Burned to a crisp.
There are other courses in this area that are a better bargain & in better shape. Huge spots in fairways & greens are packed dirt & sand. Why am I penalized for hitting FIR & GIR in regulation? Half of many fairways are dried out & unplayable. If you're in this area go play Red Hawk Ridge, Bear Dance, or Plum Creek instead, better conditions & less money. EXTEREMLY DISAPPOINTING.
Atrocious conditions
I’ve been wanting to play this course for years. It’s an absolutely beautiful layout but it was in the worst shape of any course I’ve ever played. It was like it hadn’t been maintained for the past year. 16/18 greens were absolutely trashed, like putting on a sand trap with divots. The fairways and tee boxes were even worse than the green. It was honestly just sad to see such a beautiful course in such bad shape. I inquired after and was told the green keeper quit last year and they never hired a new one. Hoping someone will save this beautiful course.
Great course, a bit beat up by winter/weather
This is always a course I look forward to playing. Today was no different. The staff was very friendly. The check-in was seamless. The course was cart path only, due to rain, I think. Some didn't see that despite it being on the door and at the check-in desk. That made for a bit of pressure, even on those of our group in carts. I chose to walk, since usually I can keep pace with cart path only folks. The course seemed a bit off the usual excellent conditions with the greens apparently suffering from ice, some linear aeration lines?, and unusual bunker conditions. Still, it was a fun round. Drinks on the patio allowed for watching the weather roll in, cool. I look forward to coming back when the course is in its usual glory.
Poor conditions
Was excited to play this course but for the price of $115 I expected it to be in a lot better condition.
So to say the least I was very disappointed
Horrible Course Conditions
Today was my first time playing this course sadly I was unimpressed to say the least. The course was in horrible condition. Lots of dead spots on the greens and fairway. Paying 115$ for the round I expected pristine conditions.
Goat track
Course in terrible condition greens bare spots bumps inconsistent, fairways bare areas sand traps not maintained, not one good area on the course. Beautiful setting.
Fungus?
Great layout, issues with the following; lack of practice balls, fairway only and a dry course, what was denied as fungus in the fairways (which may explain cartpath only), scalped greens on occasion (must be a new guy mowing).
Would definately play again but would want honest opinion of condition first.
Worse shape ever!!
The Ridge is in the worst shape ever!! They are charging way too much for the conditions of the course!!! . For the price they are charging the fairways and greens should be in much better shape there are dead spots everywhere I’m ashamed and appalled that the greens keeper hasn’t been fired yet! I do not recommend playing this course until July
What Happened to the Ridge
Wow-
We have always loved and enjoyed playing the Ridge. The big problem is the price, which is usually in the $130 range. We were pleased to get a $91 prepaid price and off we went.
The layout is wonderful, but this golf course needs a lot of help. Brown spots all over, and lots of missing grass on greens. This was not a problem on just a few holes either.
We love the track, but for the price paid (yes, even $91) we expect way more. Extremely disappointed in the conditions here, pretty hard to putt over sand.
We were told this is "normal winter kill" but our group plays all over the Front Range and this is pretty far from anything we have seen including our local muni.
We hope they get it together soon, but we will not be returning at any price until the conditions approve.
Very disappointing
Not sure what has happened to this once well taken care of course. Almost as much brown as green today. Great staff and weather were the only saving grace. Completely not worth 100$ though. Cant imagine it will be in any better shape for at least 6 more weeks if at all. Wondering what the folks at Troon Golf are thinking or where they are putting their money, because it is not at The Ridge.
Great course and o should be on the list for all Denver golfers
This is a great course, good service, one of the best practice areas, great layout and overall I have liked this course for many years now and 2021 is no different. Pace was good, their attitude here is always good. The course was a litter rough in places but they always get it in shape and they just recently opened after winter closure.
Ridge at Castle Pines Nort
Exceptional course! Definitely measures up to everything you'd expect from a Troon North track. Fairways were for the most part very tight with a few exceptions, so shot accuracy is key to scoring well. The greens I thought were challenging, but fair, definitely player error if the putt didn't turn out the way you wanted. The undulation is extreme, I walk almost everywhere I go, and this was definitely among the most difficult courses I've ever walked, so be warned about that. If you're not in good shape, I would just get the cart on this one, especially if you're not used to the altitude. On the views, 10/10. More than half of the holes have very scenic views of mountains and the gorgeous surrounding neighborhood alike, definitely bring your camera! On the staff, I would say that they were exceptional. I tend to find that a lot of courses these days have staff who don't really seem like they want to be there and they act like they're policing you more than they are adding to you experience. The staff at the Ridge were all definitely the opposite of that, very friendly, and a delight to converse with. All around, I would recommend this course very highly in the central Colorado area, but as I stated before, definitely have your shot shaping in order, otherwise this track will eat you up!
Not worth it right now
Played three Denver area courses this weekend and this one was by fair the worst in terms of condition and value. I will start off by saying that I do understand that three days before we played, the course was covered with snow but so were the other two we played and their conditions were much better. Some of the fairways and greens were in terrible condition with many bare spots. All on course restrooms were closed and there was no on course beverage cart. On top of all that the pace of play was excruciating. A little over 5 hours to play. Multiple groups on every hole. All for $90.00. Way too much for what you get. Much better values at other area courses. I understand that part of what you’re paying for here are the views, but it’s still too high. It’s certainly worth that when conditions improve but by then it will cost well over $100.
Ridge
The Ridge is located in Douglas County which currently has no restrictions with Covid. No food and beverage on the course. All the bathrooms were locked. So the only way one can go to the restroom was on the turn. No rangers on the course to manage pace of play. Sprinklers turned on on hole 17 not able to play the hole . Pace of play over 5 hours. This golf course in management a lot of work to do. Totally not worth the money. I played BearDance The previous day. Everything was open. With full amenities and service. Bear Dance is also located in Douglas County . Troon Golf should be embarrassed.
I was underwhelmed
Here are the disappointing facts...It was a bright sunny and warm day, but was under a cart path only restriction, possibly due to the poor quality of quite a few fairways. Many of the fairways and greens were a patchwork of green and dead sod. Several tee boxes were under improvement, and tee placement was consolidated, limiting the choice off play. One of the holes was shortened from a par 5 to a par 3 due to excessive presence of snow? The starter was a few minutes late for our tee time, and the course seemed understaffed. The pace of play was slow, the group ahead was slow and playing the wrong tees, and there was not a single marshal on the course. Our round of golf was almost 5 1/4 hours long. Bunkers were poorly maintained, and all rakes were removed. All on-course restrooms were closed. There was no beverage service on the course. Food at the clubhouse was limited to overcooked brats and dogs served with chips. I have played at least two other courses in the Denver area in the last three weeks and none of them had the same level of poor maintenance and service restrictions. Overall, I am regretting the decision to play this course. Very low value for money.
