Lackluster

Don’t get me wrong, I had a good time playing here, but it feels like this course is cosplaying as a luxury vacation golf resort without the amenities to back it. The course itself was not particularly memorable other than one or two holes, the range was ripped to shreds to the point where I’d rather just hit off mats, and the pace of play was insufferable. 5 hour round, waiting at every tee box and no marshal to enforce the pace of play. There are several blind shots around corners, without much of a system of knowing when it’s OK to hit other than praying that the gps on the carts is up to date (hint, it wasn’t). So our group accidentally hit into the group ahead and we were also hit into several times. Overall, I would gladly play this course for $120-140 but I feel like $200/round is too steep for the experience, especially when there are gems like Murphy’s creek just down the road for $75.

Bobcat family on 14

Beautiful course, excellent staff, the right amount of challenge for me personally, and probably the most fun holes I’ve played all year. Only gripe was some slow play into a multi-group traffic jam on the last two holes that prevented me from finishing 18, but I started at 4:40 and went in not expecting to get a full round in. Mostly bummed because 17/18 looked pretty rad, and it seemed possible right up until that point. Also saw some bobcats on 14.

Over 5 and a half hours to play this course

The pace of play was horrendous. Two groups on virtually every tee box. Not a Marshall to be seen all day. When groups called in to the pro shop they were told “it’s been slow all day”….!?!? The course is a nice course and in decent shape…..but paying nearly $200 for this lousy experience does not even come close to being worth it. I will not try it again.

Five Hour and 10 Minute Round of Golf

The Ridge at Castle Pines is a nice course. Unfortunately whoever is managing the course has gotten a bit greedy and has raised the greens fees to over $200…..hence the value for money rating. The pace of play that is “on track” according to the cart display appears to be over 4 and a half hours….meaning you can play slow as heck and still be “on pace”. In addition we never saw a Marshall. On most tee boxes there would be 2 to 3 groups. It is a pretty area but standing around that much is tedious. I will not play here again.

Gimme a roll(er)

Overall, I have a lot positives to give about this course. The rate was fair. The staff (pro shop, bag attendants, bev cart) all super friendly, and engaging. The layout is super fun, challenging, but not crazy, and (Gold tees) a good mix of short and long. The bunkers were in excellent shape with a nice base of sand (too bad a few golfers forgot that there are rakes out there). The tee pads, fairways, and green fringes were all in very good shape. The greens…fairly quick (11-ish maybe), but here’s why no 5-star rating…the turf conditions on the greens. It was nearly impossible to putt with any consistency. Image putting on tile with deep grout groves, or shag carpet with varying depths, the greens need to be rolled so badly, not to mention (2:10p tee time) most of the holes were “volcanoes” from poor technique when cutting them. I still had a good outing, but it could have been wonderful! I would recommend this course, but PLEASE roll the greens!

Challenging and beautiful golf course

The Ridge at Castle Pines North is really a step above most courses. First of all, It's run by Troon Golf. The course was in good shape (both fairways and greens) except for a few fairways that seemed to perhaps still have some winter kill. As is the case with many courses these days, there's not enough sand in bunkers which causes problems. The pace of play was 4hr 50min which seems about the norm these days on weekends at any course. I would say 13 of the 18 holes were really beautiful and the other 5 were nice as well. Good views to the mountains nearby. Strangely, they have no water dispensers anywhere on the course. You have to refill you water at the turn. There was on instance where a staff member came by with free water bottles and they had 2 water bottles on ice already in the cart. There was a quick spot to get refreshments, brats/hot dogs at the turn. I really enjoyed my round and will be back

Fantastic experience, tough track

Course was in excellent shape minus a few greens and a fairway. Very helpful staff and friendly starter. Played a 4:20 pace on a not too busy Monday. First time I’ve ever carded 3 birdies in one round.

Truly Eye Candy

The layout, and the views, and the conditions in June were terrific. If I get back to the area anytime soon, I would recommend going. It was much better than I expected.

Great Course

I played with my son while in Denver for a weekend. I found it on GolfNow and I saw it was highly rated. It wasn't cheap, $140 for 18 holes and a cart. But, it did not disappoint. We were paired with a couple locals who were very kind, a couple of sticks, and had great local knowledge of the course and surrounding community. There were many picturesque holes. Tons of elevation changes, very few blind shots (good course design), very deep bunkers - which I was told was previously the courses only shortfall, but they have all been redone and are great now. Greens had been sanded, but were still fast and rolled true, very playable. Ponderosa pines line the fairways on the back side and make for some intimidating tee shots, but the landing areas were generous and the ball flies forever at 6400 feet, so grip it and rip it!
