One of the Best
If you haven’t played Florence Golf Links on the central Oregon coast you need to add it to your bucket list, NOW!
This is perhaps one of the finest golf courses on the entire Oregon coast. It plays fair and offers multiple tee boxes for every class of player. From tee to green you’ll enjoy the beauty of the well maintained fairways. Once on the greens be prepared to roll the ball to the pin, not bounce. The entire course and practice facility are above reproach.
The staff from the cart barn to the pro shop are consummate professionals.
After your round enjoy a meal at the grill or restaurant overlooking the spectacular par 5, 18th fairway, green and lake.
Great coastal golf course!
How could you not love this course? Beautiful setting, friendly staff, course design, and great on site dining.
GM plays hard nose!
Planned a pleasant afternoon with a good deal from golf now. Twilight rate including cart. But GM Ron Reed would not honor even after i showed him in black and white from site. Was charged extra 15dollars for a golf car. Unhappy 9 until i checked back in to complain and was warmly greeted by Tom and given gratuity which more than compensated the egregious attitude of Mr Reed. Overall, a stimulating afternoon.
Pleasant Surprise
Wasn't sure what to expect from this track. I had read little about this course and received only one or 2 recommendations from locals. I was thinking this would end up being your average muni track. However, was pleasantly surprised after playing the first few holes at the condition and ambiance of the course. Conditions were very good from tee to green and greens rolled true. A few of the holes reminded me of Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head with the ponds and pines lining the fairways, along with sand dunes on a few holes. A few holes on the back 9 got a little straight and bland at times. However, the 18th brings you back to why this is a great place to play. Was a great closing hole. All in all, a very worthwhile play and would definitely play again.
Sandpines
Fantastic course in Florence, Oregon. I highly recommend playing this as a warmup for Bandon Dunes. Staff was friendly and price was fair. Greens were in great shape considering how much rain they get. Can’t wait to play again.
Where's everyone??
Buddie and I get to play this course maybe once a month, via their excellent discount card.
Not a breath of wind today, which in itself is unusual. Overcast, partial sun at the end. Forecast was for possible shower in the morning, but it skipped us. Guess that scared everyone away.
Course was virtually empty. Felt bad for the staff, because it was a perfect day. Great course, as well. Wish we had played better, because you don't get this ideal combo often here.
Excellent
This is one of the great courses in Oregon. Rees Jones design. Yardage on card means absolutly nothing. You're at sea level with soft fairways in to a 10-15 mph wind. Marine layer of fog in the morning. Can be worse ( much worse). So, you are at sea level, soft fairways, into the wind. Got it? 6000 yds plays 6700 yds. I'm not kidding. OK. I'm a 7 hdcp golfer who only hits driver 210 yds. This is a brutal course. But FUN!!! Greens have very few breaks, but they are soooo subtle. Hard to read. OB Sports is mgmt now. Course in nice condition. Have fun and please suck it up play shorter tees.
On the way to Bandon
I have played Sandpines GC twice on my way to Bandon Dunes. It is a great place to warm-up.
The staff is very nice and accommodating. They have a putting green and driving range for proper warm-up. There is a full restaurant and halfway house on site so you won't go hungry or thirsty. The course is in good condition; no issues on that front at all. I can only think that it is great during the regular season.
As for the course, the holes play in all directions. The par 3s and 5s vary in direction and distance. In a wind, the club difference will be substantial; without wind, it still will vary in length. The par 4s also vary in direction and number 16 is driveable but with the hazards and strategy one would expect. Water comes into play on a handful of holes, but mostly in the tee shot on a couple of par 5s and par 3s causing a forced carry. There is a also a version of a cape hole with water along one side. Choose how much you bite off the corner. You are by the ocean and for that reason, take an extra club; you might even need to take two.
I found the green complexes to be contoured, but not overly contoured. They were more of the multiple tier variety as ridges are on many of them. They were in great shape.
Over all, this is a solid course. The dunes really separate holes and you are not driving or approaching over them. For those of you from the "it is all in front of you" school of golf, you will like this place. Absolutely no blindness what so ever.
If on your way to Bandon and looking for something to play, I recommend here.
Excellent!!!
They are under new mgmt. OB Sports I believe? Previous people in early March were rude and arrogant. I think(?) they knew they were going out the door? And they deserved to be gone. I've played 14 rounds there over the years. The new mgmt has the
course in great shape, greens nice, actual grass in the fairways. This is a fabulous course! BUT!!!! be prepared to play from a tee (or 2) forward from where you normally play. It IS SEA LEVEL, marine layer, morning due or fog, wind more than possible, softer fairways. It can be THREE clubs more than the yardage. I'm NOT kidding!!!! 6000 yds is by my calculation, about 6400 yds. here. Play the right tees!!! Also, greens tend to be slower. Took a while from 11.7 stimps on my course to their 9.5's. This course is NOT to be missed!!!
Told they dont take golf now reservations
They claim they dont take golf now reservations, better check the courses golf now offers before going
Windy
There was a lot of wind and I am told that this is common. The fairways were generous so keeping the ball in play was not hard. Undulating greens that rolled well. Carts pretty much needed since green to tee distance could be substantial. The staff was most welcoming and the value was high. The food at the grill was also quite good.
A Bucket List Course for all levels of Golfers
What a nice surprise this course is! Amazing, beautiful, difficult
,rewarding, and fun just what golf should be!
Loved it!
It's on the Replay List Now!!
So much fun....
This place is so much fun. It was windy (if you don't know that it's windy at the coast). Try to stay out of the traps because they are huge! Beautiful setup.
Sandpines Golf Expeience
This was one of those days on the coast where the weather was incredible. Temperature in the low to mid sixties with hardly a breath of wind. The course was not busy and my wife and I were able to play the course without any pressure. We walked and played our round in 4 hours. The course was in great shape considering the time of year. All in all a wonderful day of golf. I highly recomend that golfers play this course.
Must Play!
Fantastic golf course in great winter condition. Challenging but fair and fun. Built on the sand dunes so course was dry even after heavy rains. Might be brutal when bone dry in summer, but best winter course I've played in a long time.
February Golf Gift
This course was fantastic for a beautiful Feb. day on the Oregon Coast. At times wide open and other times tight. At times windy and other times calm. I think the sand soil makes it stay drier than most courses in Oregon. Played the course in about 3.5 hours and enjoyed every minute. Great use of sand dunes, pine trees and lakes. #18 is spectacular.
The only problem was there were so few players the restaurant was not open and drinks and snacks were limited.
Great layout/great condition
Played this during our beautiful Feb weather for the first time, and I was impressed. Fairways firm and fast, greens rolled true, just a great layout. Easy walking course, a few elevation changes, and a couple of short hikes between a couple holes. I am always impressed with a 18th hole that is risk/reward and memorable, and the 18th at Sandpines is exactly that, a dogleg left par 5 with water on the entire left side. If you cut off enough of the lake you can go for the green in two, but definitely a risky shot. I will be back, absolutely loved this course.
Another beautiful golf course on Oregon Coast
The staff are so kind for us, visiting the course for the first time. The weather is perfect for playing.
The course condition was overall very nice.
We enjoyed the rounding.
Great course
Great course. Great condition and drains very well even at rainy days. Great course lay out and fun to play. Highly recommend.
