A major disappointment!
It's been over a month since I last played Quailwood, and what a difference a month makes. It appears there has been very little water put on the course- anything off the fairway was hardpan. The teeboxes haven't been mowed and they are largely hardpan, as well. The most disappointing aspect, however, were the greens. They have been plugged and sanded and are in terrible shape! There was no warning on Golfnow of this. This will likely be my last round on this course for the balance of the year.
The greens are in terrible shape.
The greens are in terrible shape. They have sprayed insecticide and several of the greens are covered with dead grasshoppers. Tee boxes especially hole 16 are poor shape. Corse maintenance was poor in my estimation. Won't be spending any money here unless the new ownership turns this cow pasture around.
Fun course. Good combinations of par3s,4s& 5s. I'll be back
Not worth playing
Course in terrible condition- tons of grasshoppers, cicadas.
This course was great!
First time there!, was absolutely wonderful!, was raining a little back and forth. Great scenery, nice and green everywhere, no dead spots. Greens in fair shape, fairways in great shape! I'll be back......
Fun Course
Quailwood is kind of an odd course. Short, but fun. Interesting and sometimes weird layout. Greens and tee boxes were ragged in some places, but it is a good value compared to other courses in the area. Owners are local people and operate pretty much on a shoestring, but they do a good job of keeping the course in playable condition. Great food and great happy hour prices!
Rough course
Course is in rough shape. Tee boxes are terrible very few ball washers cart paths have lots of ruts. Course allows 5 somes that slows pace considerably. Crts are ancient and a bag strap broke and resulted in a broken driver head.
Quailwood Greens a good muni course
Quailwood Greens is a moderately challenging public golf course. The staff is very friendly and there are some challenging holes that require accuracy on the drive. The putting greens were in good shape and the fairways were good. The carts are a little older, gas and noisy. Cart paths are a bit rough. Overall for the price this course is fun to play and will challenge your skills at some level for those who like to play public courses. It really sets up nicely for playing with hickory golf clubs. On Tuesdays you can play for $20 with two cans of food which they donate to a local food bank. A nice gesture
Local Feel
Nice course, par 68. Layout nice, tree lined fairways. Greens ran ~ 8ish, but there a few rough spots and a minor fungus issue. Tee boxes need a little TLC. Maybe they just weren't mowed in a week or so. Moving to this area soon and will play this course often.
Front nine pace of play was good, course had long rough due to recent rains. When we made turn, several groups were sent off back in front of us and play came to a standstill. We quit after the 12th hole. Very disappointing!
Well kept
My friend and I are getting back to golf after @ 2 years off and this was a great course to cut our teeth on. Fairways were in great shape. Employees were super friendly. Real lay back atmosphere.
Good value for $$$
Quailwood is an interesting layout- a short 18 with 67 being par. Nothing is overly long- even the par 5's are relatively short. While anything outside the perimeter of the course appears ragged, everything within the area of play is fine. Number 8, a par 4, is especially challenging, with a 90-degree dogleg left with water in play. In the four times I've played this course, pace of play has been good- as a single I could play all 18 in under 2-1/2 hours. Everyone in the clubhouse has been friendly. If I had one criticism to make, it's that the directions from green to the next hole could be better marked, especially on #8 and #17. All in all, a great value for the $$$!
Unusual But Fun Course
Odd layout, but fun course. Holes could be marked better as it kind of rambles around and cart paths would be confusing to course first time players. Hot, dry weather has taken its toll on some tee boxes and greens. Nevertheless, the owners are working to make it better. A good value for 18 holes and awesome burgers at the grill!
Fine course
Manager/owner claims he makes 0 money off players using golf now. Treats golf now players like he doesn't really need their business. Can you explain to me why we pay golf now but the owners claim they lose money???
The only one I had this attitude from was the starter. And it is the only course in CA or AZ that I have had this problem, Why would they use Golf Now if they don't want the business?
