StoneRidge Golf Course
About
Elevation changes are the name of the game here with swings from the tees that could make the most even-keeled soul feel Vertigo. The drop from tee to the fairways is as steep as 350 feet. The stretch of 12 through 15 is particularly height challenging. Designer Randy Heckenkemper likes to compare his course his course to a roller coaster. This for a high season $55 greens fee that wouldn't even be enough to get a ticket into some amusement parks.

Great views; overpriced, gimmicky target golf. Slow greens and long fairways.
The views here are spectacular; it may be worth playing once for that reason alone. However, if you’re looking for a fair golf course that’s out in front of you, this is not it. Every tee shot is a forced carry and a number of them are blind from the tips. Greens were rolling at an 8 (at most) and still haven’t recovered from early April aeration. Fairways needed to be mowed, as well as tee boxes. The course overall was quite soft. Not a good value for the conditions or layout.
The layout gets repetitive - huge elevation drop on many tee shots, hitting up to an elevated green. It’s also very difficult to see groups in front of you in a number of spots due to the elevation changes and lack of cart GPS. Just a bizarre (if very scenic) golf course that charges way too much. M
Challenging & Beautiful
This course has a very interesting layout that requires precise shots. Luckily they provide a course booklet because there are a lot of blind shots or hidden undulations.
I can see why the course would play tough/slow if they didn’t give those books.
Front 9 pace was terrible even thought it was all 2-somes. No Marshall to help things along. Also no restaurant that day.
This is not a walkable course! Even with a cart it seemed like every green was hard to get to - no place to park the cart without a steep walk.
Will have to go back now that I know the layout a bit better.
PS; don’t take your beginner friend there.
Cool layout no services
Course was in not great shape. Needs more water everywhere. The greens have been punched within the last month and are still a bit rough. No food service was open and no beverage cart. You’re on your own out there
Beautiful coarse friendly staff. Not for the beginner golfer as there is mandatory carries on every hole. But great fun
Beautiful course
This is a gorgeous course, but I don't recommend it for beginners. There are quite a few blind shots and brush to carry. I am glad we played but I don't think we would repeat.
I could see really enjoying the challenge if you could play it several times to figure out placements. They do give a yardage book which helped a great deal.
Target golf
This course is more target golf than any Scottsdale course i know. Be sure to bring enough golfballs with you, if not on the fairway, you’re lost. Steep up and downhill fairways, if you like that, its a must, especially considering the greenfee compared to most scottsdale courses. Great condition of fairway and greens, very well maintained, greens slower than usual, maybe because of the heat this week. Overall fun to play, quite a challenge. Great place to escape the heat in the valley.
Interesting Layout
Very scenic. Very hilly. Fast Greens. Some narrow fairways. Lots of carries off the tee. Several blind shots.
Spectacular surprise
Played the white tees ~6,000 yards and played extremely well and had a ton of fun. The yellow 6,400 yard’s were doable however par’s would have been nil for this 11 index senior golfer while the white tees delivered it all par’s, bogies, birdies and the par 5’s gave me the greatest difficulty. Play the par 5 well and you can score low!
Was blessed to play with my wife as a twosome starting early afternoon 1:06pm. Felt like our own private club. Greens were not fast or slow so very playable. The fairways and rough both were green and plush and sand traps full. They were finishing up some irrigation upgrades and improving several tee boxes (maybe enlarging )which were closed off, however none of this caused any problems. I was told there’s 7 miles of cart path that was amazing and so fun to travel that is hard to describe you must just experience it. The entire course engineering and infrastructure was impressive.
The Pro Shop welcomed gave insightful instruction that was perfect to get us started. Note: The dinning room/food service is closed on Monday’s so no foods options at the turn or after play.
We are so pleased we left the valley to experience golf in Prescott the drive and adventure was full of surprises.
I say play it!
Neat course, a guide would help
Good course. A lot of distance between holes. I normally walk, but would suggest a cart for this one. Due to numerous blind shots and elevations changes, some holes have a sign telling you how to play it, with yardage guidance. I wish a few more holes did the same!
Scenic
It was a beautiful! Very scenic, looked like a Disneyland ride. Beautiful valleys and homes, the course was tuff for a beginner. Used the green(old man)tee boxes. Got to bring plenty of extra balls but was still fun and challenging. I’ll be back again.
Best course in Prescott valley
I’m a regular winter golfer here because the price is affordable and the course is in great shape for being a week out from Christmas
Tough and Tight Great Conditions
Very Hulley and challenging course. Scarey cart ride and many holes do not need a driver. Course was in excellent condition
