Country Club of Green Valley

About
The Country Club of Green Valley borders the Santa Cruz River, wandering through the pecan groves that sit along the banks. The golf course is seemingly mild but don't underestimate this 6,628-yard layout. It's a scenic round but it is also a challenging one. Don't be surprised if you find yourself using every club in your bag. Strategically placed bunkers frame every green and water comes into play on six holes. The 14th is arguably the toughest water hole. There is a lake that wraps around three sides of the green and the front is guarded by a bunker to the left and right. In addition to the golf course, Green Valley is also popular for having one of southern Arizona's finest practice facilities, which includes a driving range and chipping and putting areas with a practice bunker.

Nice Course but expected more
Let me start by saying GVCC is a very nice course.. It wasn't quite as nice as I had seen it before or expected.. Overall the greens were in good shape and your putts rolled true. Some of the fairways must of been cut a little short because even though they seemed to be watered well they still were burnt off and plenty hard in places. The same can be said with some of the tee boxes.. The sand traps where very hard from being watered and then not raked. Since we are familiar with the area and this course just from living real close this was not the way we usually have seen it. Not sure why there seems to be a drop off of the condition of the course but maybe it's just that time of year.. We did take a friend with us and it was a little disappointing since this was the first time he ever played here and we had bragged it up a lot..
Excellent experience and condition
Very well maintained. The tees and fairways may be as good as any in Green Valley. 17 of 18 greens are excellent. The other has some areas of little grass but still very playable. Our foursome's handicaps range from 17 to 19 and, as suggested, we played the Bronze tees. It was just right for our level of play. Prior reports spoke to the narrow fairways. None of us felt that they were a concern and in a couple cases were wider than expected given the course is surrounded by homes. The shotgun start was very convenient and the pace of play was excellent.
Well worth a round
Fairways were in excellent condition. 'Rough' was hard pan. Tees and greens very good condition. Fun track.
Very limited beverages
Other than water and coffee there were no other beverage options apparently because we weren't members. The staff were very nice and the course in great shape.
Great condition
Weather was good but nearly blown off the cart!!!
Not used to this.
Paired with 2 fellows who were decent golfers & quite polite & would golf with them again.
Nice greens
My son and I played in the Saturday morning shotgun. The course is in good condition but the greens are exceptional.
Enjoyable
Great Conditioning. Staff is the friendliest in the Valley.
A must to play.
Excellent experience
My father lives on this course and finally decided to give it a try. This place is a gem, excellent fairways and the greens are top notch. I love the twice a day shotgun start, which keeps the pace of play flowing nicely. The staff is friendly and helpful, the dining area is ok, but any alcohol drinks is reserved for members only.
Enjoyed the 8:30 shotgun start.
Course was in great shape. We played the 18 in just under 4 hours and never got backed up. We got off on the 8:30am shotgun start, which was great. If you're thinking of playing, do so, you won't regret playing here.
a very rewarding experience
As a first-time player of this course, the shot-gun start proved to be an excellent way to keep good pace of play on a full golf course. The conditions were so excellent that you were rewarded with each shot. It was one of the best golfing experiences in Green Valley!
Great condition and value
Was a shotgun start at 1pm and we were concerned about finishing. Took exactly 4 hours. Well kept course, friendly staff. Only downer is no snack bar. Will play again.
Tight but fair
You better hit the fairways if you want to score. The greens were excellent. The course is the best I've played in Green Valley
Wessels group
Great course, great people and well organized .
We had a good time!
Very nice course
Everything is well maintained. Tees, fairways, and greens are in excellent shape. Really enjoyed playing.
Fun course to play, great shape, good pace of play
Played in January of 2015 and the overseed from last fall was excellent. It was our first time here and we will definitely come back on our yearly trek to Tucson in January. The club house staff was very accommodating and easy to work with getting us on for a second 18 and a small replay fee.. Greens were in very great shape for January, good speed, a challenging course, no unfair or tricked up holes just good golf. Check it out!
What happened?
As is the norm for this course it was a shotgun start. We started on hole #13 and were cruising around at a solid 4 hour or less pace. Never had to wait to hit a shot. As we came around the turn to begin the front nine there were now two foursomes playing the first hole. Have no idea where they came from. The rest of the round was a slow torture and it took 5 hours to play the 18 holes. Some how they got on in the middle of the shotgun start and brought everything to a halt. Spoke to the people at the desk and they knew nothing about it.
Impressed
Even though we had a delay, we were kept inofrmed by Pro Shop whne we would start. Pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful, explaining where carts, range balls, putting green, and start hole where located. Course was in great shape.
Tee to green
From the tee to the green this is one of the best courses I have played in Green Valley Arizona hands-down!!
