San Ignacio Golf Club

Decided to revisit this course while vacationing back in Arizona and it was just like I remembered it from our last play back in 2011. Always enjoyed the layout because it’s fun but will penalize you if you venture off course from the tee box. Even though things were a bit dry and prepped for aeration on Monday, course rolled true. Don’t break the bank playing Tucson courses and take a few minutes extra to drive down to Green. Alley for a fun round of golf.

Booked about 3 days in advance. It was nice to get a tee time with many courses in the area closed for over seeding. Though San Ignacio was shaved in preparation for their over seeding, it was worth the 45 mile drive down from NW Tucson, and the greens were still good and surprisingly fast.

Take time after the round to have some food in the restaurant as many nearby residents go there regularly for meals. My chicken salad wrap was plentiful and John had the sausage minestrone soup which looked delicious.

Though the score was not as good as I’d hoped, we had a pleasant day.

Decent golf course but they were reseeding and the course was okay at best!!!

Course was getting ready to be over seeded. Grass was cut very short and scalped around the edges and the tee boxes and fairways. Got lots and lots of roll on each shot. Sometimes it helped other times it rolled to far. Looking forward to playing the course in November.

Course layout was excellent. Tees were nice and greens were a bit slow. Amazing weather and great company playing with members Dave and Nancy making us feel very welcome.

The course is in excellent shape. It’s a go play. The greens were nice and smooth and rolled very true.

The pace of play was terrible. We waited on every hole except 1 and 10. There was no Marshall to push the group in front of us and the group in front of us had no true sense of what was going on behind them. I would say the round was at least 40 minutes longer than it should have taken.

The restaurant seems to be a little downhill from what we’ve seen in the past.

Had a couple friends tell me this was a nice course. You have to pay for range balls, but the range and practice areas are very nice. The staff is friendly, but the rangers do nothing that I could see, to keep the pace of play. It was a 5 hr 15 min round. That was horrible.

The tee boxes and fairways were nice and well maintained, but the greens were bad. They do hold, but they are Bermuda and extremely grainy.

Not a terrible course overall, but the rangers told me that there was nothing unusual about the slow play. For that reason alone, I will never play there again.

The course is on marvelous condition overall! The greens had not fully recovered from recent aerating but that did not hinder play. Great staff, too!
