Haven at Haven Public Golf Club

About
Built along the Santa Cruz River, Haven Golf Course offers scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Built in 1967, it is Green Valley’s oldest golf course and the only course in the area where walking is allowed. The landscape is covered with mature pines, palms, and eucalyptus trees. There are water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play, but overall the golf course has an enjoyable, player-friendly layout. In addition to the 18-hole course, the Haven Golf G.C. facility features a nine-hole, par-3 golf course called Tortuga. There is also a complete practice facility with all-grass hitting stations that provides excellent short game practice.

Not good
Greens were horrible. I understand they just reseeded, but they were so slow and fuzzy. Pace of play was over 5 hours due to cart path only. Not worth the money to play.
Good layout on the course, staff is very friendly.
Course was busy and that is expected but when you have 2 3-somes and a 4 some in front of you and they all take 2 tee shots on EVERY hole it makes for a long front 9. They have multiple signs saying each 9 should only take 2 hours. There was a 'ranger' driving around in a cart and never said anything to them. So got to #10 and there are 2 groups waiting ahead of us and guess what the group on the tee each took 2 tee shots. This slows things down even more when they each spend 5 mins looking for their first ball. The clubhouse was gracious and allowed us to replay the front 9 since it was empty. Course is one I would like to play again but if they aren't going to move the pace of play along may reconsider.
Mosquito Haven
If you've ever wanted to know what it feels like to star in a National Geographic documentary called "Mosquitos Take Over Arizona" -- this is the place. The second you pull up to hole #1, about 300 mosquitos personally welcome you like it's their private country club. I swear the population of Green Valley is outnumbered 3 to 1 by these things. Drain that pond please.
The course itself is easy, weather was nice, but who cares when you're basically donating blood every 5 seconds? Even the cart girl looked like she gave up on drinks and was selling bug spray -- shelves of it like it was Costco.
Pro tip: unless you want to come home with more mosquito bites than strokes on your scorecard, maybe try a different course... or at least bring a beekeeper suit. 0 stars.
Haven
Areas around perimeters of green where spotty with weeds and dirt.
Greens are very slow on the front 9
The course is in good shape for a public course.
There are spots in some fairway s with grass missing.
The sand traps are in terrible shape. They are full of rocks and need new sand.
Probably the worst sand traps I have seen
Great greens
Huge bare spots on fairways overall AND, NO sand in traps. Bring LOTS of mosquito spray. Greens are great!! Too bad someone won't invest some of the money they're making, back into the course.
Great Course
I love this course in Green Valley. Always a favorite to play and anytime I'm in the area I play it at least once.
Get some sand..
Greens were great, you'll be placing your ball 99% of the time for lack of grass, as well as wiping the mud off pretty much after every shot
Take bug Spray
Overall all went well ,started off 615 am as a twosome on #1 played good and fast, when we made the turn at # 10 there was 2 foursome ,ahead on # 11 and 12 ,first group let us through the next would not , we skipped a hole , they played stupid and were very slow . Other wise for that incident and the bugs , it was fine .
