No Desert Here!
Elephant Rocks is located in Williams,AZ- Gateway to the Grand Canyon. Elephant Rocks is a very traditional course cut out of a forest. I am from Northern Michigan and this course would fit right in that landscape. The course front nine is firly wide open and opens into large fields and is fairly flat. The back nine is much more elevated and cut through the forest. Playing as a single, and never played here before, the course was very well marked and easy to get around. I enjoyed the course and will play it again before I leave AZ.
fast 18
It seems like the rough was recently punched so there are sod tubes around the green but they are easy to clear. The rest of the course is in fair "fall" condition. Minimal activity so it was easy to play in less than 4 hrs (with cart).
Beautiful Landscape throughout well maintained golf course
My husband and I played this course in November and it was beautifully maintained. The greens were perfect. Not too fast and not to slow. The atmosphere was so serene surrounded by pine trees. The fairways were wide and forgiving. We absolutely love this course.
Great course
Love playing this course. Some holes are more challenging than others but it's a perfect mix for a great round of golf. Really enjoy playing this course.
Very Nice Course...
Wow, I really enjoyed playing this course. The fairways were in great shape and are lined with large pines. Some of the fairways were narrow and required more accuracy. About a third of the holes entailed water hazards and two of the holes/fairways were split which required a lay up. Hole 17 is a par 5 steep uphill and hole 18 is a very elevated tee, par three 200 yd hole. About half of the greens had been closely mowed and sanded but the ball rolled very well as they did not over sand them and you have to maintain them sometime. The other greens were in awesome shape. The course setting/views were incredible.
Beautiful scenery throughout the course. Great place to play.
Elephant Rocks is the prettiest public golf course in northern Arizona in my opinion. The monsoon rains had really given the course a lot of help with the grass, although it seemed like some of the greens were a bit rough, and perhaps someone had over-mowed the fairways. Overall it was a great day, and a great course. Highly recommend it.
Great time away from the valley heat. Course is in great shape and has some tough holes.
Beautiful view. Course in great shape. Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was good.
Great getaway up north
I have been playing Elephant Rocks for many years and have seen the course grow in quality over that time. While the course is busy at weekends, the weekdays tend to be easily available, but with 10 minute tee times, pace of play is always fast.
While the course is not overly long, it is made extremely difficult by the narrow fairways and think pine trees. The greens have subtle breaks but run true while not being overly fast.
You always receive a warm welcome from the new PGA Professional, Scott Little, and his staff. The pleasant clubhouse is great for an apres golf drink and the food offered by the new chef Tony, is exceptional.
