This course has awesome scenery
My wife and I played this course and found the conditions, layout, and the mountainous surroundings to be awesome. With the numerous elevation changes, fast greens, and nicely manicured greens/tees the course has its challenges. The one drawback is the course length for women. My wife, who is an average golfer, found the course to long and often times had difficulty reaching the fairway from the tee. It would be certainly a more enjoyable experience if the lady's yardage were shortened.
Other than that, this course will be a must play when we visit the Flagstaff area again.
Great condition and friendly staff.
Condition of course was great with good greens. Course has variety of holes from tree lined to water hazards.
In excellent shape!
I've played this course a number of times. Definitely worth the drive from Flagstaff. Better priced than any public courses in Flag, and in excellent condition. Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. Greens were in the best condition I've seen!
Fun Challenge
Elephant Rocks is always a fun challenge with beautiful views and great weather. Greens were in good shape and rolled true.
Rain rain go away
I made a tee time via GolfNow and was pleased with both the price and the course. We arrived at Elephant Rocks about an hour early, checked in with the Pro Shop, hit some balls, went to the putting green and about 11:00am we went over to the first tee and checked in with the starter. He stated that because some members wanted to take guests out to golf we would have to wait until those two (2) foursomes played first. We teed off around 11:35am
Already NOT a good sign.
We arrived at the eighth (8th) tee box at 1:40. It took more than two (2) hours to play seven (7) holes, making it a 5-6 hour round. The pace was extremely slow. Then the weather took a turn for the worse. Rain, thunder and lighting, oh my.
We opted to seek shelter and headed for the clubhouse. At times the rain was SO heavy that there was standing water on the fairways and a number of the greens had water running off of them.
We asked about a rain check or a refund. They told us that since we DID NOT make the reservation with them, they could not do anything and that we would have to check with you, GolfNow.com
I am waiting to hear from GolfNow then I'll write a true review.
It was nice to play somewhere cooler than Phoenix.
great course with up and down hill holes, a little water and a few bunkers. trees were the larger challenge when you stray from the fairway. the last hole is very exciting, huge drop!
Beautiful course. Friendly staff
Great course in the trees challenging but fun. Pace of play was really slow waiting at every hole. Other than that beautiful course and well maintained.
Worth playing
This is the 1st time to play Elephant Rock this year and was disappointed with how dried out the course was. Normally it is really beautiful, so was surprised with the browness of the fairways. The green were verdicut.... and wooly....
However the staff are super great and very friendly.
Will play again later in the summer to see if the fairways have improved.
You'll never forget Elephant Rocks Golf Course
Where to get out of the desert heat and play golf this summer?? British Links style or mountain course??? Why not BOTH! The first few holes at Elephant Rocks reminds you that you are at roughly 7000 feet in elevation in Williams, AZ - and then as you start to thread the needle between the pine trees, you arrive at the meadow and the 9 links styles holes. As soon as you get used to the wide fairways, they take you back into the pine trees and large rocks (shaped like elephant ears) to test you accuracy off the tee box and your blind /uphill approach shots. 18 is a simple par 3, but the elevated green plays with your club selection as much as the scenic view draws your attention away from golf. Fortunately the pro shop is only a few steps from the green so making your next tee time is that easy.... Don't be surprised if you want to go back out after lunch at the grill. Enjoy.
Fabulous!
A great golf course. We will play here as much as possible. The greens are spotless. Fairways are great. Entire course in excellent condition.
Great Staff and Course
Windy day made course more challenging. Club house staff very helpful and gave my girlfriend a helping lesson. Has the largest bucker of ball I have ever had. Excellent driving range and putting green. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. A pleasure to putt on. Also has a great beverage cart. Totally recommend this course.
Beautiful views
This course was difficult at times due to the very straight and narrow fairways. You DO NOT want to be in the trees. We really enjoyed playing here but didn't know the layout of the course. Some holes have hidden greens from the tee box but now that I know it better, I will drive back to Williams and play it again.
I do recommend it for most players but not for beginners.
Golf the wind!
Pace of play can ruin a round! After 3 and a half hours, we finally gave up after 14. A ranger could have helped to move things along. Two men's leagues were playing that day, stay away from Wednesdays!
Enjoyed round
First time playing Elephant Rocks, weather was windy, but course was in great shape. I will definitely go back.
Elephant Rocks golf course
This was a very nice course with excellent scenery. The 18th hole was a nice hole to finish on, 212 yard par 3 tee box is 75 feet above the green.
Always a GOOD Time
If you Enjoy getting out and smelling the pines, then this is the course for you. Always a pleasure to play. Heading into Williams for Food and Entertainment an added bonus. Grab your Clubs, Buddy's and GO !!!
Best value in Northern Arizona
This course has always provided a challenge for distance hitters but the well kept fairways and greens make the overall experience very rewarding.
A good track.
Elephant Rocks is a pleasure to play. The course just opened and is in good shape, just wait until late April and it will be great shape! The friendly staff makes the experience that much better. If you want a course that offers great views, good golf and a break from the heat of the valley, this is the course for you.
BEAUTIFULLY SITUATED COURSE
EARLY SEASON IN THE MOUNTAINS FOUND THE COURSE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. GREAT VALUE ON A GOOD VENUE. MIXTURE TOUGH AND EASIER HOLES MAKES FOR A VERY ENJOYABLE OUTING. THE SCENERY IS TERRIFIC AND THE COURSE WINDS IN AND OUT OF THE WOODS. WELL BUNKERED WITH NUMEROUS WATER HOLES. 16,17,18 ARE GREAT FINISHING HOLES. ALL GREENS VERY GOOD. STAFF WAS A+. WE PLAN TO RETURN OFTEN.
