Practice Rounds for the USGA Net Championship
Played practice rounds at both courses and had Tee times that allowed me the freedom to play two balls throughout the round. Had groups in front of me that I kept pace with, but no one behind me for at least 30 minutes. The GPS on the cart was a great help in seeing where the groups in font of me were and in a few cases, I was able to play the same holes twice. Fairways and greens in excellent shape with a lot of side hill, up and down hill lies. Greens were a little slow. Got around on my 6:40 tee time in 3 1/2 hours. The second round took 4 hours due to waiting for the groups in front of me to clear. Got in quality practice today.
overbooked
Way overbooked and overpriced slow play all they want is the money
Lots to like.
Plenty of elevation changes, mature trees, fast greens, some wind during Santa Ana conditions, golf carts have GPS.
great course..
Great condition.
Everything Ok.
Fun and healing...
Excellent course and challenging
Course in best shape that I've seen. Worth the money and time.
Amazing Golf Course
I love it when a course follows the flow of the land. You have many shots downhill where you feel like you can drive it a mile. Then there are those holes where you can hit it great and feel like it don't go anywhere because you are hitting up hill. The fairways were perfect, the greens were amazing. I will be back.
Pro shop staff has no manner, lack of knowledge .
I always have a great time playing at Industry Hills Golf Course but from yesterday's experience at Ike course was so disappointing , the course is awesome but no public notice about the million fruit flies from hole one to 18 specially close to the lakes, our 3some has survived thanks goodness..
The time we checked-in in the pro-shop the pro-shop guy has NO manner at all ,we asked him what is the senior rate during the week and his answer is maybe 44$ maybe 50$ maybe 55$ in the Ike course in a rude manner, we asked him in a nice way how come you are not sure and can you find out & his response is maybe, I don't know . We don't mind paying any green fee whatever it cost to play some golf but a man in the pro-shop that does not know and not sure of the course rate is lack of knowledge and should NOT be in that particular job . No manner , lack of knowledge of the job , and most of all no respect to seniors..
The worst golf experience of my life
I get there and see the practice putting green is sanded. I ask the guy in golf shop when that was done and he said it was done on Monday... and said that it was posted online. I know I didn't see anything posted when I booked on Golf Now. So now I have to make decision whether or not me and my wife want to spend a total of $170 to play a round on such conditions. After a few minutes discussion, we decided to play. I've always loved that course, (I used to be a member of the men's club there years ago.) He gave us a $10 discount, so I paid $150 total. Horrible decision!!! The greens were in the typical condition after being plugged and sanded, but the course was completely infested with nats! I've never experienced anything like this in my life. We suffered thru the first nine, and I went into the pro shop to buy some bug spray, because I went thru an entire can on the front nine... but they didn't have any bug spray. How can you allow your course to get that bug infested and not sell bug spray? The 10th hole was unbearable, because there is water on that hole. I'm guessing I killed at least one thousand nats on that hole alone. If you think I'm exaggerating, imagine a white golf glove being completely black... that's how many nats got on my glove during my shot. I smacked it clean, hit my next shot and the glove was black again. We left the course at that point because we were afraid of getting some kind of disease. They gave us 1 rain check... so I basically paid $75 to go thru 2+ hours of torture and abuse.
PS: To the guy in the pro shop who said that the sanding of the greens is posted online. Check golf now, there is no notice whatsoever.
Poor pace of play and sevice
i paid $70 to play at 12:50pm knowing sunset around 5:30pm. if im going to pay this much to play a +5hr round with a 5 some in front and being 15min behind tee time i would of went to a public course for $35-$45 and not be so upset not finishing the round.
very nice golf course
beautiful scene view
very various
little hills
dog legs
great quality of fairways and green
a great day
Hard to score
Pace was very slow(5 1/2 hrs) Elevations changes, hard sand traps and tricky greens made it very hard to score.
ahbot
It's a good track but it plays SLOW. It's one of the slowest rounds I've ever played. Close to 6 hrs. Many groups should be playing from the White Tees (6400 yards) but many of them are teeing off from Blues. The Course should have a Marshall at the tee box to ensure that they are teeing off from the correct tee box. Overall the course was in great shape and fairways were running fast.
What a day
Had a great time, course is in great condition but tough!!!! Will play there again but play from the whites this time.
Every Shot Was a Challenge
I played on a Friday, late morning, with three friends. I had never played the "Ike" before, so I kind of wanted to play the white tees. My friends confidently played the blue tees, so peer pressure got me. Big mistake. The course plays pretty long from the blues. Add to that, the fairways were soft and muddy (CPO on a handful of holes). These factors led to a lot of mid-iron/hybrid approach shots into the greens. For me, from 180+ yards, anywhere on or near the green is ok. Unfortunately, a thirty foot putt or chip at this course can be difficult (sometimes impossible) to get close. LONGGGGGGG DAY. In a nut shell, "THE IKE" is a fantastic and VERY challenging layout. I suggest playing a set of tees one forward from your usual tees. If you decide to play it back, don't say I didn't warn you.
Best course in East LA
Played Ike today for the first time. Paired up with regulars here for a very enjoyable round. The course is excellent compared to all the other courses in LA county. The drought didn't show any impact on this course. Very green from Tee to green. A couple bunkers I was in have nice fluffy sands. Ike is a bit more open than Babe which suits my game better.
Perfect golf as usual
Course conditions were perfect as usual. A little wet from the rains but the greens were fast and smooth.
Good course but slooow
This is definitely a good course. it's challenging and fun, and the conditions were good. However the pace of play was ridiculous. We were a foursome with another foursome in front, and all with carts. In fact the group in front had 3 carts, but the game still took over 5 hours. The group in front was lagging way behind from the flight ahead of them by probably 2-3 holes. We had to wait on every hole. There were no marshals to be seen anywhere, and if there were, then they clearly weren't doing their jobs. I'd expect better management from a club of this level. Other than that, I liked that there were GPS on the carts and water was provided, which was a plus. Some of the holes were quite lax about carts on the fairway, I'm pretty sure I saw tracks up to the green side rough on a few holes. But the fairway conditions were good despite that, if a bit over-watered that day, which really is more of an observation rather than a complaint. I would come back. Just hope the pace is better next time.
Better than some country clubs
Amazing experience of a country club at a public course. No wait at any tee box, well manicured fairways, greens very tricky. Had a splendid afternoon.
Impressed !
I play what I like to think is a lot of golf (I've posted 77 scores this year). I play in the Inland empire, Temecula, Orange county and Palm Springs area. This was my first time playing here and I was impressed by the condition of the course and the courses set up long and we'll bunkerd greens were in great condition. GPS system was good helped with course management which was definitely needed considering the length and bunkers also the greens are big with multiple tiers . I will definitely be back
