Great course but greens need attention

After an hour plus drive and looking forward to playing a course given 4 stars, we were very disappointed. I would not expect these poor conditions at a muni. Weeds on the green and lots of patches of dirt (no grass) on both fairways and greens. Location was nice playing along the Colorado river, but this should NOT be rated a 4 star course. Pace of play slowed drastically on back nine when we ran into a five some playing very slowly.

The only bright spot was the friendly staff. However, I will never plan to play this course again.

The course has some interesting holes one may even say quirky. The course has a lot of typical holes also. The course has always been a little rough around the edges but the value makes up for that. If you are expecting a course out of Golf Digest you will be disappointed. If you want a course that offers fun and enjoyment this is for you.

It's a little bit of a drive from Austin, but well worth it.

Course is a charllenge, but manageable with a game, . . . A game.

Have played a few times before so would have come without golf now deal. Considering lack of rain the course was in decent shape. Very friendly staff.

I have played this course several times but it has been about a year since the last time. a challenging course with great scenery. It is always a joy to play it. Many deer and great elevations.

The scenery of this hilly course is great. Second time to play this course; one of the prettiest courses that I have ever played

Not that these guys were even slow, but when you get a single behind a foursome let them through. I am sure they were monthly members there and felt entitled but I'm wasting time on each hole putting around because I'm having to sit and wait on you. Greens have many dead spots and weeds, but a deal for $10.

Considering all of the recent rain and flooding and washed out areas of the course - they've done a heck of a job making the course still playable!

I always enjoy playing this course. The course was wet because of all the rain that we are having and had in the last couple of weeks. I like the course and will play again soon.

So the course was in good shape. A few greens are going away quick. The staff was very friendly. The course was beautiful, it is very challenging but you can really get into green reading and pull off some excellent puts. Well worth every penny just to see the scenery.

First of all, credit has to be given to the grounds crew for having the course in playable shape after all the rain they received in the past week (approximately 10", maybe more?). There were obvious signs or cart path repair, cliff mud-slides, fairway wash-outs, etc. But all that was Mother Nature, not neglect. There are one things they could perhaps improve upon. One is Rough mowing maintenance There were numerous areas where you could see the ball land, but when you got to the approximate landing spot, you couldn't find the ball unless you were right over it or stepped on it. But again, that may be a result of the recent rains making the ground so soft that they can't mow. I "lost" 4 balls that way. Secondly, the greens are a bit rough, literally. When it came to putting, it was like watching a basketball roll/bounce down a driveway. There were a number of bunkers that qualified for "grounds under repair". Again, that's because of the recent rains. But extremely beautiful landscape views of the Colorado River and the Hill Country. Outstanding! Good value for the price. Will be going back. This is NOT a good course for walkers, unless you are half Billy goat. They use gasoline engine carts versus electric because of the up/down terrain.

I expected it to be in better shape. Instead it was like playing in a cow pasture mowed by a toddler. The staff was friendly and asked if I had ever played there before. I told them not recently. They gave me printed course knowledge, supposed to help. This really did more hem than good.

Hole 6 instructions - uphill again on the drive. Keep your drive right center to avoid the 40 foot cliff and bunker to the left of the green.

My drive was exactly that. They don't mention that it is only about 230 to the end of the fairway and there is a steep cliff on the other side of it. Come on guys. At least mention it.

The condition of the course was my main concern. Large spots of mud on the tee boxes and beside the greens caused me to slip and fall, yes ACTUALLY FALL, 3 times. greens had bald spots and brown outs. For as much water as they seemed to et everywhere else I don't know how they managed to miss the grass on the greens. Signage needs to be better for people that aren't familiar with the course. Some of the cart paths are eroded away and dangerous due to the steep grades. The driving range is is a sad state of disrepair. All dirt. Great if you like warming up standing in a hole. Maybe they're just preparing you for the state of the course. This could be a great course with some proper care. Get it together guys.

Because of all the rain from November to March here in central texas, I was expecting it to be perferct. It was not. They cut the grass so short on some of the greens, the only thing left is dirt. Very Very disappointing. Otherwise in excellent condition.

course is in good shape for this time of year. fairways and greens are getting very good. crew is doing a lot of work cleaning and staff is glad to see you

Challenging with narrow fairways

The staff was very friendly but the course was pretty bad. The practice range had only 6 spots to hit from and the course condition was not good. It felt like you were constantly hitting off of a horribly kept range mat. The greens were very inconsistent and they didn't provide a range card. There was no way of seeing how the holes looked unless you brought your own references. I give this 3 stars because the views are absolutely beautiful. Also, most of the cart paths are in horrible condition.

I enjoyed playing Pine Forest as it has a variety of different holes, some very challenging and some just fun. Very friendly staff, as they gave me a brief heads up on some of the holes and the steep cart path areas. I will be back, thanks.

We enjoyed the round even though it had just rained. Sun came out and conditions improve. Worst part were the greens were extremely wet and muddy so made it harder to be successful.
