Pine Forest Golf Club
About
Built by Don January in 1979, Pine Forest Golf Club in Bastrop, Texas provides a true golf adventure through sneaky elevation changes and red bluffs, with blind tee shots and holes along the Colorado River. No. 3 is a picturesque par 3, playing 170 yards downhill, with a green framed by the red bluffs. On no. 6, keep the tee shot right to avoid a blind second shot, and watch out for the tough, two-tiered green. The seventh hole plays along the Colorado, and is protected by a massive cottonwood tree on the left. On the back, make note that the highest point on the course is the 11th green. For the home stretch, make the most of the two downhill par 3s. No. 12 plays 180 yards and you'll need to leave it below the hole. The 16th hole is longer at 225 yards and is protected by a beautiful oak tree on the left.

Unique course on the Colorado river with creative hole designs and fast play
Awesome deal for the money, would definitely come back again.
Great value
Love this course , have played here numerous times. This last outing the greens were super soft, and damaged from previous players not repairing their ball marks . Greens are slow and need to be firmed up.
Great gem on the river
Doule check your route before you go if your using sat nav as I was sent through the forest dirt roads in a Prius. Glad I persevered as the course is a nice place to get to even bough its 45 mins outside of Austin. Only managed the front 9 due to being an hour late for my tee time but I was the only one on the courses so flew through. Some nice holes and if youcan hit big off the tee then your in for a low scoring round.
Great value, awesome variety.
This is a great course with an outstanding mix of holes. There are several impressive elevation changes as well as some great scenery. All of which makes this a fun and rewarding course to play. The staff is friendly and the course is always seems to be in good shape, especially when you consider the price. If you haven’t ever played this course it’s well worth the trip to Bastrop. I’m giving this course 5 stars based on its overall value.
good deal for a great course
price was right, course was great except for being having to deal with the limited access to the fairways. I do not remember them limiting the carts so much, maybe because of rain? ninety degree is one thing but they had a lot of the fairway access roped off, made for a lot of walking.
Fantastic Course - Awesomely Scenic
This was my first time playing Pine Forest, and absolutely loved it. The staff folks were very cordial and friendly. The course was nicely challenging and engaging. I don't think you'll find any better scenery on a golf course with river and mountain-like hills combinations. I'm planning to come back to Bastrop during Labor Day weekend and playing Pine Forest again. You'll love it!!
Amazing variety and scenery
The variety of different looks was amazing however, I was disappointed that they moved the tees up on so many holes. greens were slow and rainy but, I can't putt anyway. The price was definitely worth it and played in 3 hours.
Awesome
Beautiful and challenging couse. Staff was super friendly. Will definately play again!
Good shape!
The course is in very good shape for mid-summer in Texas.
Only negatives I saw were unlevel tee-boxes, St. Augustine (or something like it shows up in some of the fairways which is pretty darn tough to hit out of), and a few bare spots in some fairways. The greens are in great shape and all the positives of this course greatly outweigh those few negatives I mentioned. It's worth playing!
Great course for value.
Nice - great value. This is a very well maintained course. Many great holes along the co river.
Well maintained course with lots of challenging shots
This is a great course that me and my dad played for the first time yesterday. Every part of this course is in great shape and the views were the cherry on top. Lots of blind shots kept us on our toes while keeping an eye out for wildlife such as deer and roadrunners. The yardage is clearly marked in each of the fairways and is true. I highly recommend this course for all levels of players. Oh and it is true, you cannot walk this course!
FUN!
The course is very challenging and fun to play. The teeboxes need some help but the fairway layout, trees and hills make you consentrate and hope for the best.
pretty course in the hills along the river.
PRETTY COURSE IN THE HILLS ALONG THE RIVER. GREAT VIEWS.
Good shape, great value, friendly staff
Course is well maintained, few people during the week, best value on a tree lined course, friendly staff. Interesting water holes and great views.
Best Cheapest Course
Thoroughly enjoyed every yard on this course!!!!! Great greens with several blind shots..... study your scoreceard
One of the most scenic courses in Central Texas!
This is one of my favorite courses. While the greens aren't the greatest, the course is challenging, not very long, but still challenging. The views are amazing. IMHO, this is the best course by far, for the money. I plan to play it often.
beautiful course
breath taking views on this course, but what grass they use on greens is beyond me. every putt bounces and each green different on speed.
This course is beautiful!
Every time that I have gone to this course it has been beautiful. The greens were a little rough, but probably due to the heavy rains that this course has taken. Its a challenge! Blind Shots! Sand Traps! This course will make you think and that makes this game fun even when you aren't having the best of days. The staff knows you're and always has everything ready to roll. They keep the pace going and keep a clean ship!
Great Course
It was windy , but still a great course, Par 3's and the par 5's are a challenge
