Built by Don January in 1979, Pine Forest Golf Club in Bastrop, Texas provides a true golf adventure through sneaky elevation changes and red bluffs, with blind tee shots and holes along the Colorado River. No. 3 is a picturesque par 3, playing 170 yards downhill, with a green framed by the red bluffs. On no. 6, keep the tee shot right to avoid a blind second shot, and watch out for the tough, two-tiered green. The seventh hole plays along the Colorado, and is protected by a massive cottonwood tree on the left. On the back, make note that the highest point on the course is the 11th green. For the home stretch, make the most of the two downhill par 3s. No. 12 plays 180 yards and you'll need to leave it below the hole. The 16th hole is longer at 225 yards and is protected by a beautiful oak tree on the left.

Rolling hills create elevated tees on most par 3's. 5 Holes are on the Colorado River. Greens are in great condition. Very well maintained.

What a great experience! Unbelievable views of the surrounding areas from the high holes. Four sets of tees to allow you to fit your game to course length. Some holes are tight but most allow for miss hits. Greens rarely have a straight putt.

Beautiful course set in tall Pine and Oak trees along the Colorado River.

Great course. Well maintained. Greens could be cut a little faster for my taste, however they hold shots well.

Decent course, but not much else.

Course was just OK but several places where water had damaged the grass and large unplayable areas were sequestered. I'm not a fan of having to cross automobile-driven roads, but that is a necessity of this course's design. Sub-standard driving range.

The club house experience leaves a lot to be desired. Concession stand doesn't accept credit cards, coolers for drinks have an high rental rate. Dark and tired interior.

The starter marshall was insistent we move off exactly on time, but only one other group was even in close proximity to our tee off -- 30 minutes behind us. Eeeeasy boy.
