Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Good times
Had a good day on the course. The course was in great shape, for all the rain we had.
Course needs work
Course needs work on fairways, greens, bunkers. Think greens were recently spiked. Fairways are not in good condition nor are bunkers. Great layout though. Nothing wrong that some influx of money wouldn't correct
Great Layout...However
Great Layout however theT maintenance of course left a lot to be desired. Little to no sand in the bunkers and the fairways were in poor condition.
Great challenging course minutes from New Orleans.
Always a good trip to Oak Harbor. Greens in great shape.
Good Value
Oak Harbor is a great public course. It's well maintained and offers a great challenge. What you get for the money is well worth it.
Has some challenging holes and an Island green
Course is always in great shape and plays quickly.
nice lay out. greens are top notch
we played in 3 and half hours which makes it nice not to be out in the heat too long. The greens are in perfect condition and played very nicely. Course is kept up all the time. This is a course that I would join to be a member and play all the time. The staff is a very pleasant to deal with and a great driving range, putting area, and chipping area to practice all the time. Recommend if you never played there to go and play.
Poor fairways, hot water in coolers, trash on fairways, cart quit on 7th hole!
Was disappointed with course! Fairways in bad shape, water was hot in coolers, cart quit on 7th hole.
Not really a great value for the money spent.
Greens were in good condition but rather slow. The fairways had a lot of bald spots and there wasn't much sand in the bunkers. Muddy around the greens, irrigation issues.
This course could use some TLC
I have played this course many times but it is now needing some work. They gave us a cart which was not holding a charge and would run off the cart path being so far out of alignment if you didn't hold on for dear life. The scorecard was upside down going straight. We were out of juice and pushing it after 8 holes....a total piece of junk. No course in this area has a cart that bad. I won't be going back there for a while....
Lots of Potential
Pro Hope told us course was in "great condition". Then we went to the driving range..... it was flooded (tee area), apparently someone left the sprinklers on all night, so we had to warm up on hard hard ground. The starter seemed in a hurry to get us going, without giving us time to putt, we had to tell him we want to putt first before teeing off. He started us on the 10th tee.....I personally hate starting off the 10th tee... its a mental thing i guess. Anyhow, to the course.... the course was in pretty good shape, but not "great", the grass was dormant which was to be expected, most of the greens were in very good condition, but had little pebbles all over them, im guessing fertilizer or something, the tee boxes were horrible as a whole.... the markers were in the most played spots as if they werent moved in weeks.... no grass, just sand, and alot were not level... you were either teeing on uphill, downhill, or standing in a hole to hit off of level ground. The course layout is great, i like the layout, and would consider this one of the more easier courses ive played with short short holes... next time ill have to play the tips.. Overall I give this course a 6 / 10.
Good Course Average Conditions
The layout of this course is great but some conditions are average to below average. More attention to detail would go a long way to elevate this course to 4 or 5 stars. Needs sand in the traps and some maintence in the fairways. Staff was super friendly and the greens were in good shape. Always a good time.
