Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

S&M Fall Classic
The course was challenging, relatively crowded. It's a good course and we like playing it. Fairways were fairly hard because of a lack of rain, but drives got a lot of roll as a result.
Golfing @ Oak Harbor
Basically, the course was in fair condition. The fairways were in pretty good shape except for some large holes on different holes.. The greens were in very good shape.
The sand traps were very hard, they need more sand and need grooming. The first rough needs to be cut down some more because it’s hard to find your ball sometimes.
Good time and great weather.
Too many grass cuttings in the rough and fire ants.
Greens are in great condition.
Nice course at a nice price
Picked up a deal on GolfNow - hadn't played the course in a while. Was a windy day with rain threatening. Had to add and subtract club selection due to testy wind and course obstacles (traps & ponds). Greens were in good shape. Traps could have been better cared but understandable with scattered rain. A par 3 had a new bulkhead that hadn't been backfilled. Otherwise a good course.
Slow play big problem
Very slow groups in front of us. Need Marshall's to direct. Greens great. Every thing else not well maintained.
A very challenging course.
The slope rating is higher than the average course. Which means that you don't have many relaxing shots. Water comes into play on 15 holes of the course. So bring plenty of balls. It is a very challenging course and in the end you are going to say, " man that was tough ".
So good luck and take the challenge.
Had a great time. Only criticism is that bunkers had a lot of rocks and hard sand in them. Other than that the course is in great shape
Great value for the money
Worth the money best courae in Slidell. Green as are in great shape
Always On Point
This place is always on point justin & gus are always friendly
On the Way Back
I've played this course many times over the years. It has seen it's ups and downs. But the layout itself remains a solid one and a good test.
The course is on it's way back to greatness. The new owner will undoubtedly put a great deal of time and effort into making this course all it can be.
For the time being, it is a work in progress. They haven't had rain in a while so the course is hard and fast. There are a couple of rough fairways. The greens were all in good shape, but a bit hairy and slow on the day I played.
They have eliminated some useless bunkers and are making the course more user friendly overall.
Under new ownership and a lot being done to improve.
First of all, I'm not writing this review to make this golf course look better than 3 stars if it's not. Second, this course is much better than a 3 star, and my opinion it's on its' way to a 4 1/2 stars rating. I play regularly and at many different courses in the states, and I can say that right now, Oak Harbor Golf Club is just as good as some of the 4 stars courses I played. Yes many improvements lately has help with this review. In the last 4 months the owner has made great improvements and it don't look like he is going to slow down.
This course is very challenging and that may be why many golfers rate this course bad instead of rating themselves. With all that said, I feel that OAK HARBOR GOLF CLUB is going to be for the money, best in the New Orleans area.
At this time, the course is in great shape.
Nice course
This course is under new ownership and it shows. Granted, there are things that need attention like the bunkers, but this course is on the way to staking it's claim as the best semi-private course for miles around. Condition is very good. Nice definition of fairways and rough, greens are good and layout makes you think. Fairways are as good as they have been in a decade. Exciting to see what's happening at this course. Well worth playing. If you play this layout well, you'll play well anywhere.
terrible golf course
i've played here throughout the years. conditions have been gradually going downhill. bunkers are bad. fairways barely have any grass, its hard as a rock. forget about taking a divot. you might injure your joints or tear a muscle. i would never come back. i'd rather drive 20-30 minutes and play better courses in mississippi. i don't know how this place is still open.
save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else.
