One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Dead pan
Fairways are so dry it is like hitting off dead pan.
Disappointing
Course is on its way out. Only played because it was super cheap but there was no water in a single cooler during mid day and the cart girl was out of everything and was done at 4pm on a Friday. Won’t be back.
Everything’s dead
No grass at all on the fairways, water pump went out so they have to hand water the greens. Loved this course…. Hate seeing it go bad. Not worth the price right now given that there is no green grass in the fairways.
Course going downhill fast
Really have enjoyed this course for a number of years. But it is going downhill in a hurry. Getting a lot more traffic with longwood closed and hasn’t been worth the time or money.
Of all things, what is making me write this review is the fact it’s been the 3rd round in a row with no water coolers on the course past #6. Absolutely unacceptable with this heat…
As for the course conditions, Could barely stick a tee in the ground. Obviously aren’t watering enough to keep up with this heat. Have made zero effort in improving their practice areas. No marshall the last few rounds, resulting in painfully slow back 9s. Greens have always been my least favorite part..can’t seem to get them to roll consistent or true.
Was a good course, unfortunate it’s following it Longwood’s footsteps.
More grass.
Plenty of grass for July. Thankful that Cypress Lakes continues to provide an affordable and solid course to play.
Very nice course. The only thing I would recommend is adding a few more signe for directions because first time players can get a bit confused at the turn.
I enjoyed my round. I will definitely play this course again.
Hot June Day
This day was rough, over 100 degrees. The course layout was interesting, lost a lot of balls due to not knowing the course. If you can sometimes smoke it over 280, I’d recommend just hitting a long iron or hybrid off the tee.
Greens are under repair so that sucked, all Sandy. Overall , not bad for 35 plus taxes and fees.
Great time at Cypress Lakes
The staff is friendly. Range balls included. Played in just under four hours. Greens are in great shape. Fairways in good shape. If you have not played this course, you should!
Revised Review
I played course a month or so ago and had a different experience from the first time playing course in 2022. I had chance to come back and play again and was very pleased this time! Greens were in much better shape and were not too fast nor too slow. Fairways were in good shape as well. Only one issue was a fairway bunker on hole #8 that had a lot of water. With the sister course Longwood closed temporarily, I was expecting a less than stellar experience due to increase in players but course was in good shape!
