Cardinal at Diamondhead Country Club

About
The 18-hole Cardinal at Diamondhead Country Club, half of a 36-hole layout on the property, is a semi-private course that opened in 1979.
Designed by Earl Stone, the golf course measures 6,831 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 132 and a 72.7 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.
The major challenges for both golf courses are their tree-lined fairways. The Cardinal Course is wooded and was built on gently rolling terrain. It has no parallel fairways and extra-long sand bunkers.

Value doesn’t do it justice…
Not only are the courses top notch but the staff is extremely accommodating. Most courteous starters ever, pro shop staff as well as the clubhouse staff…never any complaints!
Pace of play was rough.
Had two big groups ahead of us. A good amount of waiting took place, and not sure if they have a marshal to enforce pace of play. Few of the greens were covered in leaves. Range and putting greens were nice. Overall was an alright course. Will go back, but not in any rush. Hopefully have a better experience with cardinal.
Played the Pine course. Very good condition. Enjoyed playing there and will return soon. Would definitely recommend this course.
The Diamondhead Pines
Course was in very good shape. Green’s fast but fair. Pace of play good. Staff was friendly. Excellent restaurant and bar area. Would play again
Pace of play was absolutely terrible!!!!
Pace of play was absolutely terrible!! Obviously 4 old prk members in front of a single and not once offered to let me through..no marshal, no cart girl, this was an absolute disgrace!!! Quit after 9 the first time in my life, and was 3 under…course was nice, but not worth the drive or the patience….
Great condition. Friendly staff
The course is in great shape. The greens are perfect. Many golfers but pace of play is great. How great? I had a 5 some in front of us and they never held us for more than a minute and we finished the round in 3.5 hours which is excellent for a busy Friday.
Course is awesome …Pro shop demeanor—below par
I played the course 3 times in 3 days—so this review comes with a solid perspective. If anyone wants to putt on first class greens both courses will make you very happy. Homes around the courses don’t really come into play so no need to panic. The locals were very friendly that I played with on the pines course Saturday . Had a great round with them helping me around the course. First and last day played as a single …not a problem unless you run into a 5 some of privileged golfers. I’ve played all over the world and to see seniors not picking up trash or repairing marks in fairways and greens was disheartening—-that none of my business but nevertheless it was bothersome for such a nice place. Now the negative. I played one round for regular fee, two rounds using GolfNow. I was definitely treated differently when using GolfNow. The check in process was no where near as friendly nor professional as when I paid full price. both times using golf now there was no getting keys then not being told the range was closed but still paying at check in for balls was uncomfortable. I also had the privilege to be checked on by the starter as a single and being congratulated that I was keeping pace with the threesomes in front of me. I’m a 7 handicap but was made to feel like I didn’t know how to play. That’s ok I enjoyed the starter watching me hit shots…lol. I didn’t see a starter on Saturday or Sunday. The pine course was closed so maybe guys needed something to do. I would play the courses again but would figure out a way to stay out of the pro shop with a golf now purchase. There was definitely a different and unwelcome vibe.
So you know I have taught public school for 34 year and I know people. The golfers once again were nice even though I couldn’t play through which is their choice. The pro shop needs adjusting if there is a stigma using Golf Now.
