#9 green, right in front of the clubhouse was by far the best conditioned of the day! Photo submitted by u547358672 on 03/15/2023

Course in terrible shape
Aerated greens with inconsistent sand. Many times the putts would wonder off due to the holes not having sand in them. And we had to play the same 9 holes twice. Should not have been full price We did not find out about the course conditions until the starter greeted us.
fantastic course
grey rock is a fun and challenging course. it's a very nice facility and it has always been in great shape when i've played. there is enough difference between the white, blue, and gold tees to accommodate or challenge any skill level.
definitely everyone should try this place out.
Descent Course for the Area
It's not a bad course. Not a ton of options in this area and it's well maintained. Not worth full price but for a deal i recommend it.
Great course ... will definitely play it again
The course was in great condition. The greens were well kept. The course setting is beautiful.
Pretty average course, but CLOSING HOLES WITHOUT NOTICE
First off, the sixth hole was CLOSED for bunker rennovation. NO NOTICE POSTED ANYWHERE until we got there. Not to mention that no work was going on. Most courses provide a work around.. Instead we play 17 holes on a lame, well thats why you got this price comment...which was no deal in my book.Oh well, the new bunker sand will be nice when it settles in. Back to the course, nothing special, average layout, only one scenic par 3. OK course conditions. The range was mats only...and they are as tired, worn out and hard as a rock as they get....waste of time to hit off. Personally, I think your greens fee will be better spent elsewhere.
Fast course
The greens and fairways are running pretty good. hit the ball low and you can roll it a long way. The greens are rock hard and do not always hold good shots into them. The par 5 7th is closed right now which is a shame, pretty straight forward hole the should be pretty easy to birdie if you keep the ball straight. the new sand in the bunkers is a bit deep and needs to settle a bit, but overall fun course.
Great course
Great course on a windy day. Course was in a very good condition except for bunkers where they put way too much sand. We were caught behind a women FIVESOME and had too wait all day.
NICE COURSE, GREAT HOSPITALITY
I ENJOYED THE PERSONAL TOUCH OF THE BAG DROP OFF,
THE STAFF WAS SUPER FRIENDLY . THE COURSE WAS A BIT CHALLENGING WITH THE HUGH FAIRWAY BUNKERS, AND THE SUPER FAST GREENS. GREAT VALUE FOR THIS COURSE.
Terrific Course
I love this course even though it's a bit pricey. Green fee for my wife and I was about $171 which included a cart and range balls. The course itself was beautifully maintained; the greens were smooth and fast. In fact, the greens are very fast. They gave me a lot of trouble. The course is on the outskirts and the all the trees make make the course look like you're out in the country even though there are houses on the course. I love courses cut in oak trees. I will be back even with the stiff green fee. If you haven't played Grey Rock, you need to play. It's and outstanding venue.
Nice setting in the southwest region of Austin, Tx. They have managed a well maintained course, that embodies the natural beauty of this area.
The only thing to truly consider when you choosing the course is the volume of golfers there. You are intermixed with members and non-members, which creates a disjunction in rate of play. (Some people having casual play, while others are putting lots of pressure on you.) Very enjoyable atmosphere overall, just be weary of the volume of golfers, and mixed attitudes.
A favorite course in Austin
Grey is always well maintained, in very good condition, ready to play. One of the best practice ranges in Austin. Very challenging but playable for anyone with 4 sets of tees to chose from. Greens roll true and are green; fairways are brown but it is February. Really like this golf course.
Bunker City, fun course.
Grey Rock is a fun course because it challenges you with its strategically placed bunkers. There are several holes that don't play particularly long but where there's a chance to GIR, there's a chance to be in the beach. Set up very well and challenging in its own unique way.
We had a great time playing!
Greens seemed to be too hard and had a difficult time getting the ball stick.
The 15th hole was closed for renovation and didn't know that until the starter told us.
Nice layout
Played here on 1/22/2013 and it was a beautiful day. The course was in good condition considering the winter grass in the fairways, but the greens were nice and green. The only thing I had a problem with was that nobody in the pro shop told us that hole 17 was closed for the day. The plus is that they are changing all of the bunker sand from that nasty brown to a nice fluffy white.
This course will challenge you with fairway bunkers and short holes so you have to play layups and smart golf here.
Nice course, staff members were unfriendly and rude
The course is fine for an afternoon of golf. The staff acts like it is privilege to play there. Having teed it up at Torrey Pines, St. Andrews and Royal County Down to name a few- I find it unnecessary for the staff to act like I am getting to play a country club for an incredible rate. Give me break.
Worth the time
This my favorite public course in Austin. It's a great round for the new, learning or experienced golfer. Greens, fairways & bunkers are always in great shape. Country Club feel at a decent price. Two thumbs up!!!!!
Nice location.
Grey Rock is set in an out of the way location with a laid back Texas Hill Country feel. Course layout and conditioning were good. Friendly staff.
Generally disappointed....
I have played Grey Rock twice in the last 6 months. Both times it took 4.5+ hours to play. General course condition is below average and the bunkers are terrible. Based on what you get for the price, I will likely not be heading back for awhile.
