Fantastic course
The course is in great shape. The greens are large and have many undulations. The rough is penalizing. It is super thick requiring one to gouge the ball back onto the fairway.
Nice course good pace of play
While the fairways and greens were in good condition. The rough was very thick making it dificult to find a ball that was just a foot off the fairway.. the green fee approached $100.00 which i thought was high for Mid week afternoon for this tyoe of course. All in all we had fun and played an enjoyable round of golf
Not worth the cost
Several issues:
- it played in 4:40. Dreadfully slow and ALWAYS has been
- unreasonable at that cost not to include a small bucket to hit
- rough was unhittable due to improper mowing not for difficulty
- sand traps not maintained
- no ball washers at any holes
-no where to put your bag ANYWAY near clubhouse
-the balls you do pay to hit are broken worn and ruined
Regardless of the management, this course never improves and is a $50 course at best
- $15 PER person’s ridiculous for the cart. One person in a cart is $15. That makes no sense.
Sorry Reston you lost me
Not worth the money; not very walkable
This course has a decent layout, the greens and fairways were in mostly good shape, and the carts had gps in them, but those are things you can find at a well trafficked public course for $50 per round. What I expect for $100 ($80 per round and $20 for a cart) is a well taken care of course from tee to green with hardly any rough areas plus all the amenities; that is not what you can expect at Reston National.
The bunkers were almost unplayable (looked like some haven’t been raked in weeks), the tee boxes are tiny (maybe 100 square feet on average), and the course has horrible drainage issues: part of why the bunkers are unplayable. This is what I would expect at a typical public course for $45 per round and would not mind paying that much for it, but $100 is ridiculous.
I do not recommend this course at all but I had a great time with the two guys I was paired up with.
Poor service
Not great weather not the staffs fault but person in pro shop taking payment in a hoodie! No one at starters desk golf carts wet couldn’t find any one to wipe off seats had to go get towels from bar to wipe off!
Fantastic course
I really enjoyed Reston National. The tees and fairways were just great shape. Greens were a bit slow, but not too bad. Definitely returning.
Was charged full price for greens that were still aerated.
Rough Shape for Early Season
I do like the overall layout of Reston, but the conditions definitely took away from the enjoyment of the Round. It seemed as though the Greens had not been cut in 2-3 days. Poorly placed replacement holes. We did get around in 4:20 on a Sunday, which is a pleasant surprise. Please start to put $$ back into the Course!!
Horrible Greens
The course is overall in decent shape but not for the price. The greens are in bad shape, they were punched recently and have not recovered. They are slow and bumpy
A nice course
In general, it's a nice round, the condition of the course was good in spite of wet weather.
The only thing regretful was airing with send to the green that is normally doing by most of all courses just before season open.
The cart fee USD 20 per person seem to be slightly higher as a public course! All the best service for better course management! Cheers!
Not a memorable track
It isn't a memorable track. Every time I drive by it, it does look beautiful. Worth checking out? Sure, if you are around the neighborhood. Wouldn't recommend anyone travel for it though. The greens got aerated last week, sand on greens for repair. Course was a bit slow.
Continued downhill turn (unfortunately)
All through 2023 and acceleratingly in 2024, the turf conditions have gotten worse, the turf maintenance worse (fairway, tees, and greens), and the clubhouse is falling in disrepair. It’s a shame considering the course layout and location are great. I’ll keep an eye out, but can’t say anything positive about the course to fellow golfers until significant investments are made. I’ll continue playing Herndon, as it keeps getting better and better (their greens are phenomenal in 2023).
Course look great
Played on Seniors tee so wishing all holes have a separate senior and ladies tee or the seniors tee open on all holes. Otherwise course was looking good as usual.
