Might as well light your greens fee on fire
This course has become an embarrassment to the game. Conditions are nearly unplayable. Every time I’ve played here the last 5 years I hope it’s gonna be different. Every time it has gotten worse and worse. I will never play this course again. The owners of this course are stealing your money, do not play here.
Just stay home
This is the worst golf course I’ve played in my entire life
Going downhill
Place just keeps getting worse. Poor pace, of course, but staff is getting less friendly/professional. The women in the pro shop keep walking away from the pro shop to hang out in the concession area, or whatever they're doing. Even if nobodys in the pro shop, you should still answer the phone. You should also be there when customers come in, so they don't have to go looking for you. Course maintenance is non existent, based on how fast the course is deteriorating. Just in the last couple of months, its gone from pretty nice to completely burned up. They're not moving the tee boxes, so the whites are basically just dirt, at this point
Course had a lot of dead areas
Wouldn’t play again till areas are repaired or given time to regrow for price charged
Great round!
Lovely course, never disappoints. A bit dry here and there but you have to expect that in August. Otherwise, very nice course w nice staff!
Good course, poor pace
Pretty much the same. Generally speaking, staff is friendly. Not Westfields, South Riding, or Stonewall friendly, but still more friendly than average, like Centennial. Course is still in good shape, greens were excellent. Had a bit of bad luck and got stuck behind a slow foursome. It happens. Last time I was there at the same time, 940am, on a Saturday we finished in three and a half hours. Course is very gettable and fun.
Course is in terrible shape
I’ve played Reston national quite a few times and the conditions are worse every time. They barely mow anything, so the course tee to green is very thick and slow. Can’t remember the last time I actually saw a mower out there when I was playing.. Bunkers are not maintained at all with barely any sand and not raked. Greens are in terrible shape and are probably the worse part of the course. Most have large patches that should be considered ground under repair and a ton of unrepaired pitch marks. Combine the frequent bumps with no mowing/rolling and nearly every putt rolls incredibly slow.
No ranger either so usually pace of play is usually slow + no beverage cart even in the middle of summer
Only good aspects of this course are the layout and friendly staff. It is only worth playing on a hot deal < $50 with the expectation that you will encounter some very rough areas condition wise
Not bad but too $ for the value like most courses these days
First time playing here. Pins were in tough positions often on a hill or close to the fringe. There were a number of large holes/dirt mounds on some greens from burrowing bugs it looked like.
This was not the courses fault but nobody fixed their divots too. I tried to fix at least 2-3 per hole even if they weren't mine but too many left still. Somewhat tough course despite no water, number of bunkers surrounding the holes usually. Some tight fairways but overall not bad. Often the putting was the most challenging part. I'd say try to get a cheaper deal other than the weekend $75 with a cart price and try it out.
Reston National Impressed
Despite encountering an unfriendly staff member at the driving range, my experience at Reston National Golf Course was excellent overall. The pro shop staff were friendly, the starter was excellent, and the pace of play was impressive. The course itself was in good condition, with the rough being slightly higher than preferred but still manageable.
I visited Reston National out of curiosity due to negative comments from some golf groups, but I found it to be superior to the group's darling, Herndon Centennial. While the driving range has limitations, the course itself offers a more challenging and rewarding experience. The small cup sizes at Reston National add to the difficulty, contrasting with the more forgiving Centennial, and could account for some of the hate, as I'm sure some egos, and scorecards, get bruised on the greens of RNGC.
Reston National stands out as a "big boy" course, comparable to the top courses I play in Puerto Vallarta, and I now consider it a top choice for tee times, right alongside Stonewall. I hope the critics continue to favor Centennial, ensuring Reston National maintains it's fantastic pace of play.
Seen better days
It’s frustrating to pay full price to play a course that gets half (you know) treatment/care. The sand is terrible. The tee boxes and fairways are full of weeds. Hopefully the money s going to the clubhouse staff, bar staff, cooks, and starters who are extremely nice. Overall disappointing.
Overally goof
Good conditon.
The pace was slow because I have to wait for the summer camp
Kids play before me.
That made me wait for a while and I cannot finish my play because of rain.
Don’t Play Here
The course is in terrible shape. They don’t have the equipment to roll the greens and the mower to cut the green is broken. The picker for the driving range has been down for over a month so they are only selling small buckets. The owner wants to develop the property so he is deliberately letting it fail. It’s a real shame.
