About

Type Resort/Public
Style Desert
Par 71
Length 6917 yards
Slope 142
Rating 72.9

The Boulders Golf Club & Resort complex features two outstanding 18-hole courses. Both courses are very well maintained, and the scenery is incredible. Boulder's South Course is exactly the type of desert course people come to the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor to play. A round of golf on the South kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 421 yards from the blue tees, which is quickly followed by a short par 3, measuring 150 yards from the blue tees. Things get long on the fifth hole, a 545-yard par 5, which is just a warm-up for the 11th hole, a par 5 that measures 601 yards from the blue tees. It doesn't get much easier to finish: The 18th is a par 5 that measures 513 yards from the blue tees.

Great Course if Money isn’t an Issue

First and foremost I would like to say the course is a fantastic track. However I do not believe it is worth $300 a round. The condition takes a back seat to no other public course in the area. It is a high-end golfing community and you will have to pay top dollar to play here. My only complaints with the golf course it’s self is They badly need to update their GPS system. I have played $50 rounds of golf where they have a Touch screen GPS in the cart that with show exact layups and pin locations. The ones they currently use are not touch screen and only shows you distances to front, Middle, and back. What they have is “OK” but not for a $300 a round. And on another note your better be hitting the ball straight when you play here. YOU WILL BE PUNISHED IF YOU MISS THE FAIRWAYS BY MUCH! All and all great course and I will look for a deal here in the future m, but hopefully it’s around 125-175$

Not good enough for the price

The boulders at the Boulders course are spectacular unusual scenery. But you are there to play golf. The range was in poor condition, with almost no grass to hit from. I might expect this on a course costing $48, but not one costing $248. The concrete cart paths were in disrepair, again unacceptable for a course at this price. The course was interesting, but not overwhelmingly interesting. The greens were good, but not great. The par 3's were too long from the white tees. 190 yard par 3's are not fair for a white tee golfer playing a course at 6200 yards.

Overpriced and overrated

Played the North course. No boulders, no vistas, nothing interesting whatsoever. Conditions and staff were excellent, but $250 for a course that would be boring in Florida is a complete ripoff.

Cool course but a bit overpriced

I enjoyed playing the North course, the course conditions were great, the scenery was beautiful, driving range and putting greens were superb. The course was not easy if you can't keep your drives in the fairways, not much chance of finding your ball if you hit it in the desert. Greens were rolling extremely fast, so if you are not used to that then you will have to make adjustments putting. I did think that paying $260 after tax was a little bit pricey, but if I found a hot deal on the course I would definitely play it again.

Beautiful vistas, great course

We played the Boulders north course in just over 4 hours, being paired with someone who plays it regularly. Nice to have a tour guide. Every hole was beautiful, course conditions were great, and we would highly recommend. Expensive, but we felt well worth it

The Boulders South

Really disappointing. Scenery was very nice. Golf was less than stellar. Pace of play was horrible. Marshall was absent. Loudspeakers blaring about some scavenger hunt. Groups of people walking around the course, in front of the boxes when groups were teeing off. Save yourself $275 and play Wickenburg.....

Drop Dead Gorgeous!!

If you"ve already played either of the 2 18 hole tracks, you know that both courses are very challenging with cool views of Big Boulders all over. There are rocks that look precariously perched and appear to defy gravity. It is well groomed with fast greens guarded by intimidating white sand bunkers. I will gladly play in again during my AZ stay if I see another HOT DEAL on it.

Good course

The north course was in excellent shape. Scenery was great and was able to play the round in a little over 4 hours. Was a great deal with a hot deals tee time. Some holes had ground crew on them but they never came into play and always moved to the side.

Best course in the area

The Boulders South course is simply a joy to play. Breathtaking views, elevated tees, superb conditions, plenty of tee box options, wide fairways (on most holes), fast but fair greens, in-cart GPS, you'll enjoy every hole and wish that game didn't have to end.

Some extremely minor gripes: the tighter, harder holes are at the beginning, so make sure you warm up before you start, and pace of play can be a little slow. Don't let that stop you though, the Boulders is an absolute must-play.

Note: if you're going to take pictures, take them early, as most of the best-looking holes are on the front 9. Not that the back 9 is bad, but it's not quite as impressive as the front.

Very disappointed

Have played these courses over 20 times and today was the slowest. No Marshall to speed play until I phoned on the 12th hole to complain. They said they would send one out immediately.. No response for 3 holes until I phoned again. Finally one came out 45 minutes after the first call and said we were only 5 minutes behind pace at 4:30 for the round. We paid $200 per person for cart path only and finally got in at 4:45. No apology. We won’t be back and will be telling our story to friends.
