Nestled at the base of the Superstition Mountains, Mountainbrook Golf Club offers a player-friendly course with beautiful views of mountains and desert hills. Given its location, the golf course is mostly flat, making it a nice walk. The layout combines that of a desert course and a mountain course for an interesting variety of holes and challenges. The fairways are relatively wide and some are lined with trees and the fairly large greens are sloped and fast. Sand bunkers are situated throughout the course and two lakes create water hazards that come into play on the back nine. Mountainbrook Golf Club's signature hole is the par-5 16th, which has a dogleg left fairway and a green that is well guarded by bunkers and mounding.

Same solid organization

Course is in as good condition as you can expect given the cutbacks in available irrigation water all over the valley. Staff is great and the restaurant is pretty good.

Terrible Conditions

This has been my favorite course for the last 3-4 years and it’s always in great shape this time of year. Not sure what happened here but I’ve seen this course in better shape during the summer time. The driving range is essentially just sand and patches of grass, fairways are dead, the rough is muddy and wet and the greens are trash. I might never play this course again.

Course going downhill

Several fairways had been painted, tee boxes in rough shape, hear that they don't intend to overseed in the future and will be painting all fairways. Appears that the owner, who also own Apache Creek is taking this course in the same direction, downhill. Way overpriced for the condition

Not as good this year

The conditions aren't nearly as good this year as in the past. Fairways especially are thin and not in good shape.

Good value for Jan in AZ

Pace was solid. Course was solid. Super fast greens killed me! Some dead spots on some fairways but overall fantastic for a Saturday afternoon round.

Slow course

I have played Mountainbrook numerous times in the past, with the previous and current ownership status. This was almost a 5 hour round of golf and totally unacceptable. There were three groups that appeared to be playing together. Looked like golfers and non golfers alike. There were at least 2 holes open in front of them , maybe three, and I never saw a ranger try to speed them up. Under these conditions, this is not a $100+ golf course. Not sure we will be back.

Slow slow slow

Love the course and the scenery is very nice but…

So not sure what or where the problem lies but I feel they are over booking or tee times are too close together. Our tee time was 1:30 and they want you done in 4 hours and if not you are expected to stop playing and get your carts in by 5:30. Then at 5:20 someone from pro shop came out to remind us that carts need to be in by 5:30. We asked him where the Marshall was all day cause the group in front of us was very slow. He said he was out there. Not sure where cause we never saw anyone. (Not even a beverage cart)

Really feel they need to reevaluate there tee times because with what they are charging to golf who doesn’t want to get there 18 holes in.

Pace of play

We had an early afternoon tee time…plenty of time to play within their designated 4 hrs or less before sunset.

We waited on every shot. I don’t think it bodes well when on every par 3 there were 3 groups. One on the green and 2 groups waiting. This happened on the front as well as the back. When our 4 hrs were up we still had 3 holes to play. Then we were told the carts had to be in at 5:30. It was. 5:30 with 3 holes to play. So, we did run to finish the last 3 wholes as the groups in front of us quit. Played the 3 holes in 15 min, and there was 4 in our group.

Not once did we see a Marshall out there to explain the delays. This was a Thursday, I’d hate to see pace of play on the weekend.

The staff in the shop and starting area were very friendly.
