Although there are many other desert golf courses in the Phoenix area, Apache Creek Golf Club offers one challenging championship course that requires the use of every club. The golf course features wide open fairways and undulating greens that are sloped back to front, some are also double-tiered. There are also numerous sand and grass bunkers protecting the fairways and greens. Extensive mounding on the course cause uneven lies and water hazards come into play on a few holes. The most difficult of the several demanding holes on this golf course, is the lengthy par-5, 10th hole. Apache Creek Golf Club also boasts two practice greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sand trap, and a large driving range with various targets.

Fun Course

We thought this course was fun and challenging. The fairways and greens were in great shape! There were several dog leg holes. The greens were fast. It's challenging to hit the fairways over the desert parts as well. I'm hoping the price will go down since the snowbirds are heading north.

Terrible shape and terrible staff

8:45am tee time and not one but three mowers on three different holes. Didn’t even stop while we played the hole. No beverage cart despite the in season prices. Course is in bad shape too.

Pace of play is negligible!!

This might sound harsh but is true. The pace of play was at 5 hours. The course was empty with tee sheet for afternoon empty. Parking was almost empty.

Again, we were delayed about 15 minutes and that seems to be the norm at this course. Starter said to many people hitting more than one ball, yet they don’t do anything about it. Marshal again rides around and does nothing.

Course conditions are all right but beware some of the greens is like putting on broccoli. Poa has taken over on some of the greens. For the price that is just shy of $100 I expect more and so do others. I’m sure that’s why on a weekend the place was empty.

To many people out there with no golf etiquette and get away with to much but they know there isn’t any accountability so why not.

I understand courses need to make money I get that but things need to change because if I’m going to pay that much money there are to many options at that price.

I hate being so negative but I want others to be aware.

If there are no better options

Course was fine. Layout was simple, no trouble anywhere. Hole where my gps showed water it was dried up. Staff was just OK. Nothing special here, not a great value for the price.

Outstanding Conditions, Greens, Fairways, Rough Excellent

Have played the course in previous years and this year marked the best conditions ever encountered on this desert layout. Fall winter rains may have contributed to what can only be described as lush grass conditions. There is even deep (for the desert) rough, which actually helps some balls from rolling into the desert. Flat course where desert is always waiting for errant shots. But desert surprisingly playable if you want to hit out of it. Enjoyable round and good value.

Reasonable Course

Played 3/9, paired with a couple from Canada, they were fun! Staff was nice! Most tee boxes good, fairways nicely plush, rough is mostly dirt, and greens pretty good with a couple rather bumpy and some sort of other greenery growing. Should have more direction signage for next hole. Pace of play 4.5hrs. Would suggest more garbage pickup out on the course by marshals when cruising around. Golfers keep in mind this track has a lot of carry over desert dirt in case you’re not a long hitter. Golfers keep carts have club/ball washers.

Typical desert course average value

Course was well taken care of without much character on layout design. A couple of interesting holes, but overall average and average value. Friendly staff, piece of play typically slower on public was confirmed.

Nice track

We played from the white tees. The course is wide open with a few doglegs. Fairways and greens were in good shape for a place that seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Nothing fancy about the clubhouse but had food and a bar. Carts are gas but well maintained. Played 18 in 4 1/2 hrs. Stoney kept the pace of play going quick..

Course Continues to Improve

The course has shown tremendous improvement this season. Fairways are certainly improved-they are more consistent and mowed cleanly. Greens are better, but some grass conditions lead to bumpy rolling of many putts. Ball mark repair on the greens is very good. Some tee areas are difficult to place a tee into, but most are in good shape. Sand traps are raked and in overall good condition. The course is a challenge and fun to play.

Best grass conditions ever

Have played this course many times over the years and this is the best conditions I have ever seen. Only reason for 4 star course is the bunkers border on unplayable. Grass conditions are excellent

Much Improved

Played on 2/25, paired with another couple, who were very nice! Since the last time we played the course looks much better. A couple of the tee boxes need do overs, fairways really good, most greens are good. There are a couple with some other kind of plant growth in them but they mostly run true. The bunkers could use additional sand and some had water. This course is open with lots of desert, dirt, and gravel from tees to the fairways and could use more signs for guidance to the correct holes. There are portipotties but no water stations. The carts have ball/club washers. The course is doable!
