18 Canada is closed and 18 Conquistador course is ugly! Greens and tee boxes are ok, fairways less than ideal and there is no rough, just dead non watered ugly areas. Supposedly they replace the irrigation system last year....it still apparently doesn't work. Course was dry, lacking grass, ugly and 5 plus hour round....

No ruff, no grass around greens, greens extra hard--40 yd. lob wedge rolled out 40 ft past pin uphill! only thing to stop ball from rolling was a trap or the desert!

Golf
Greens were a bit rough as were the tee boxes. It appears they were reseeded recently. Pace was good for the 1st 9 holes . After that it slowed down considerably.

Where's the Fairway Grass?
Have played El Conquistador a few times a year for many years. Sometimes the greens are slow but generally the course is in good shape. Playing today though was very disappointing. The fairways were completely burnt out. No grass! Hard to know the last time they were watered. Had considered becoming a member but not under those conditions. Ironically, they had just installed a new sprinkler system a couple years ago and are doing the same now for the Canada Course. You would think the new system would be an improvement and maybe so, if they used it.

Greens were in good shape ran true but a little tricky fairways were in awesome condition

Slow play took so of fun away. No one to keep up the pace of play.
Tough day in Tucson
From the moment you arrive, the staff greet you and make you feel 1st class. Even though there is major work and improvements going on all around, the easy access to putting, chipping and the driving range is noticeable. Hindsight, I probably didn’t do myself any favors picking this course on this day. It was extremely windy, on some holes a 2 clubs wind. The greens were in great shape, but very fast because they were so dried out. This course is very much target golf on a good day, with the wind blowing 17-20 mph, there is little margin for error! If you’re not confident of where your ball is going, it is going to be a very long day and your scorecard will reflect it. This course is worth a try, but you might want to bring along an extra sleeve of balls just in case… and plenty of patience.
