The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley
About
The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley in Tucson is so named for its stunning vistas provided by the nearby Catalina Mountains. The desert-inspired layout features a rolling terrain that blends in seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Trees dot the golf course and there is also an abundance of native cacti throughout. Designed by Greg Nash, the layout features large, rolling greens that are subtly elevated. The front nine meanders through dry washes and arroyos while the back nine snakes upwards to higher grounds. The back nine is more challenging than the front with more elevated tee shots and sharp doglegs. There is a small lake that comes into play and several strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley also features a driving range and short-game practice area.

Bad Shape
This has always been one of my favorite courses until today. The fairways are in bad shape. They are working on them but, none the less, they are in bad shape. The greens were just aerated and extremely rough. I would not recommend playing this course for a couple of months. The problems should be cleared up by then.
Scenic Stroll
Our twosome was matched with a Father/Son twosome who had never played the course before. Their pace of play was quite slow and we had to let two other groups play through and we were pushed by a 3rd group for the final 4 holes. That's the luck of the draw when you book less than a foursome online and not knowing who you will be paired with. Otherwise we enjoyed our leisurely stroll around The Views with some spectacular views of the Santa Catalina mountains and Pusch Ridge. The course was in good shape although the greens had been aerated recently and were a little bumpy in places as expected.
Fairways
Fairways were torn up. No indication given at reservation time. Otherwise the course is a great layout.
Did not play
I booked a tee time thru Golf Now, but when I got to the course they told me they did not have anyone for me to play with and I would have to wait. I asked for my money back and went to Silverbell and played. The last time I played at the Views, they made me ride in a member's personal cart and then made me pay a cart fee. I hated it because the member had all his junk in the cart and took up almost all the room! If I pay a cart fee, I DO NOT want to ride in someone's personal cart. If they are going to do that, then refund the cart fee!!!
Great Coutse!
I was met by staff who took the initiative to "warn" me about the elevated greens and several tricky approaches. The course is interesting and varied. Greens are true. Fantastic round of golf!
Great pace of play on good course
The views is a great value for a course that is always in good or great condition and tends to have a good pace of play.
It could use a beverage cart.
"The Views"- is on Point
Great Views, elevations changes and the staff and pace of play was excellent. I liked the shogun 8:00 AM start...It was like we had the course to our foursome.... wonderful!
Good test of your game
The course requires drives in the fairway and accurate irons.....the greens are very true but a little tricky to read. It would help to play this course more than once and I expect that I will. A fun course.
ery enjoyable
Very friendly course. My wife and I played and enjoyed the entire day at the Views.
Not an ace golfer? You are not welcome.
I and my partner are recent residents of this golf course community. We had a guest that wanted to play golf while visiting and we wanted him to play our lovely course. The day we could go was shotgun(could have excelerated our bad experience). They had 2 groups teeing off at hole one and we were the "B" group. They also had another player added to our threesome. His first time on this course as well, although he was a very good player(we are intermediate). He was a delight to have along. We were 12 minutes late teeing off off because the "A" group were young ,long hitters and they had to wait because of their long drives. They didn't offer to let us go first. Around the 4th hole the ranger told us rudely we needed to pick up pace .Everyone is backing up. I said we were doing our best. We did notice the groups catching up so quickly I don't know how they were playing so fast. The ranger said it wasn't good enough and we need to pick it up or he could have us removed. He chastised us for at least 5 minutes and upset us so that we had a hard time playing at all. I would have gladly let the group play through ,but it was a shot gun and so crammed it would not have done any good. The ranger did not even suggest it. We struggled and rushed and finished 9 in 2 hrs and 12. As a resident,I heard (at a board meeting) that the play should be 2 hrs10min per 9.I think we did OK in spite of our being upset..Stopped and took a fast bathroom break at the turn and charged on. By the 10th hole the ranger was following us and watching us with distaste. As we left the green he started chastising us again(we were NOT that slow!) he spoke wth the manager,we need to keep up with the group in front,he can remove us,blah blah. Helllooo. The guys in front can almost drive to the greens. We are SRs and not ace players. Obviously we can't keep up with them. We were pushed by members that play the course 5 times a week.He wanted us to skip holes or leave.I said good, give us our money back, which was fine with him. We agreed to skip 2 holes and come back at the end and finish them.We were so upset we had no fun and played worse.I have been playing golf since the 80's and have never been rushed so much or treated so rudely or asked to leave a course. How insulting and arrogant. Then to top it off when we got done at 5 we were going to have a beer, oops cafe closed at 5. No one else on the course either. I think they scheduled and crammed everone on the course because they don't want anyone on the course after 5.They just want to call it a day.Even as a resident,I may never play here again. Our guest and our 4th player won't be back either. A shame, because it is a beautiful course and tons of wildlife.Golf should be fun ,not a race! Seems the new mentality,I may have to give it up.
Rain in Tucson?
staff was wonderful. We got rained on at the start of the round and when we finaly quit after 5 holes they kindly offered us a comp teem time at a later date.
Course has stunning views and difficult to hold greens.
I will gladly play here again.
A great course in good condition
This the the "mini- preserve". Tough holes in really good condition. We'll play it again and recommend it as a top 10 for the price in Tucson.
It doses have great views
PRO SHOP STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND GAVE ADVICE ON PLAYING SOME HOLES WHICH WAS HELPFUL. DID NOT USE THE FOOD OR BEVERAGE SERVICE.
Beware of 9 hole shotgun scam
Course is great and I've played it before and will play it again. BUT When I booked the tee time it indicated 18 holes in a shotgun start at 8:30 am. When I checked in the pro shot said you realize it's only 9 holes, right? I said no and showed him on my phone app that it was still being shown on Golf Now as 18 holes. The pro shop was rude and offered no apology. Play the course because it is great but make sure if it a shotgun that it is for 18 not 9.
p.s. We were a 2-some and joined by another 2-some that also thought they had signed up for 18. They also go the same rude treatment.
Review of the Views
We had a 1:30 pm tee time. This course allows non-golfers to walk, jog, drive in their carts thru the course after 5 PM. They got to be pretty distracting once they came out; ie. waiting on you to hit your shot before going by. This was a distraction and very unprofessional. The range balls are expensive and so is the course for what you get. Once was enough at this course.
The Course is appropriately named
The Views was a great play. Great views, great conditions and convenient location. Greens were challenging but true. Has some challenging holes but has places to play safe.
Great Day
I have really grown to love this course. Frank in the pro shop is the best, nice range chipping and putting areas. The course is in excellent shape, pace was great. I usually go by myself but get paired up, every time it has been with great people. I will be back over and over again. Thanks for being a class act.
slow pace of play
Had to wait on nearly ever tee box and fairway. WHen asked the marshall indicated that the course was "full." Club house staff were not very welcoming and reluctant to make a very easy tee time reservation involving vouchers obtained through a Del Web presentation.
Nice course great views
Good value course with nice conditioning and varied interesting holes. Friendly staff and nice mountain ciews from many holes.
An enjoyable round of golf.
The course has character. Each hole has interesting hazards and risk/reward options. The raised teens add difficulty to the overall play . The greens are great but sometimes hard to read.
