Split Fairways.
Lots of split fairways on this course. The course layout is awesome. Lots of par 3 drop offs and hills. Gorgeous Mountain View’s. Service was 👌🏻
BEWARE...
Conditions are horrible. No overseed on fairways thus thin, dry, hard. Greens fair at best. No better than a poor muni and the want to charge pristine rates. AVOID
DEAD FAIRWAYS
THE COURSE WAS FULL OF DEAD GRASS. THE FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH DEAD.
Conditions were bad
Fairways were awful. Grass around the greens was either non existent or missing entirely. Would definitely not have paid the money or played there had we known the shape it was in.
Nice Scenery
This course could use an overseed. Very tight lies from the middle of the fairway like hitting off dirt. 9th hole is in need of an architect plus one other that I can’t remember. Some awesome holes and par 3’s have different clubs (played purple decks) selections. Twosome in front of us were unreasonably slow and didn’t have the courtesy to let us play though as a 4some. 4hrs 40mins to get around and $105 to play. No GPS in carts and they should have it for the price. Still a very nice course but not in a hurry to return.
Preserve Review
I got screwed on the money before we even teed it up. I had booked courses for 6 straight days thru Golf Pass and paid for the golf when we arrived at the course. However, on this one I was charged $80.24 when I booked the teatime with a balance due of $320.96 to be paid at course. Instead, the course lowered the $96 quoted green fee to $80 plus taxes so we ended up paying $341+. What happened to the $86.24 that was charged to me. I paid your company $100 membership fee and wasn’t supposed to be charged fees. I want my money back. That makes $180.24 that I’ve paid you to save $10 on booking fees. I’m not a happy camper!!! The course was great except for the lack of grass in fairways. Greens putted great, tees were perfect. Layout challenging. Definitely would go back, just not through Golf Pass the rippers
Preserve review
Great layout and greens in excellent condition, although the fairways require a little greening. Hope to play it again after some summer heat
Jack
Nice layout, but that all
Way over priced for what you get. No water on course, they are painting there greens. No snack shack or drinking water on course. Very nice layout but very poorly run.
This is one of my absolute favorites in the Tucson metro. The back nine is clearly my favorite. Try to play 3-4 times a year.
Disappointing
Played this course 8 years ago and it was in excellent condition then. Playing it this time was disappointing. Greens and fairways were not in great shape and do not reflect the price charged. Carts do not have GPS and the the score card does not reflect the course layout - again, disappointing. On the positive side, the staff was great, proshop well stocked, and the food & drinks were delicious.
Great layout iffy conditions
Great course layout w/ interesting holes and views. Tees and greens in good shape, fairways mostly dormant bermuda, no overseed.
We were a twosome, stuck behind a foursome. They were not slow, but never offered to let us go through. No rangers, no beer cart..
Worth playing for layout and vies, but temoer expectations per above comments.
Fun course, not the best shape.
Overall I’m a big fan of the preserves. They have a great course layout that is both challenging but fun. That being said the rates this time of year were close to $100. For that price I would have expected the course be in tip top shape. The greens played well however the fairways were very disappointing and not what I expected.
Never again
The fairways are in such bad shape that I walked off the couse after 9 holes and went to Randolf to continue may day. The $95 I paid went to pure waste.
Spectacular Setting
This course will test even the best golfers! If I were to make a suggestion it would be please create a drawing of each hole. Many tee shots were blind.
Great design; miss the overseeded fairways
Would rate this a 5 if they overseeded the fairways in winter. When they did that a number of years ago, this track was one of my top 2 or 3 in the Tucson area. One improvement this year is the greens, which are smooth and fast. I think the $100 price tag (with taxes) is a bit much for the condition. If the fairways were overseeded it would be worth that price.
