Celebration Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, FL is a public golf course that opened in 1996. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Celebration Golf Club measures 7038 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 74.5 USGA rating. The course features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass.
Father and son team of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. created a golfing experience that is second to none at Celebration Golf Club. As a result, Celebration is a championship venue with the park-like feel of a modern, Florida course.
They were also successful in creating separate personalities between the nines. On the front, many holes border wide boulevards lined on the other side by pre- 1940 replicate homes from America's southern region and that of Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. But with the back, the homes fade into the brush letting Mother Nature take center stage. Designed with shot-making strategy in mind, this championship caliber course demands accurate approach shots and consistent putting.

Greens were terrible
The practice green was not in good shape-bumpy on the entire green. Starter said it hasn’t been cut or rolled-said the greens on the course would be fine. They were in the same condition as the practice green. Tees were in bad shape. Fairways were ok.
For the price paid by an out of state player the greens and tees should have been in great shape. Until the greens and tees get in better shape it is not worth the price for green fees. Other courses we played in the area did not have the same problems.
Player
Course is very good in layout and surroundings, greens had just been aerated so they need a bit of time to come back. Staff were great and friendly. The lower rating will change when the greens come back, the cost was reflected in that for our game.
Terrible Conditions
Worst conditions I have ever seen at celebration. Tees fairways and greens were terrible. Played in almost 5 hours. Not going back.
Could Be Great - Just Average Right now
I got a decent rate on a hot deal and jumped at the chance to play this Robert Trent Jones Track.
Fairways, Tees and Rough are fine, good not great. Greens were punched earlier this month and the course has done a poor job of getting them back into decent putting shape. Every spot that was aerated has a raised patch of grass growing from it creating a very bumpy putting surface. No putts rolled true. They need to roll the greens in the morning to try to smooth them out.
Round took 4 hours and 50 mins. Pace was awful.
Really nice layout and beautiful design. This could be a premier course if they put a little more TLC into the course maintenence and didn't cram so many tee times in for the day. I would come back and give it another shot in a few months as I really do love the layout.
Overall if you get a cheap rate on golf now it's worth it, but I wouldn't pay a rack rate until conditions improve.
Very average
Had high hopes for this course but was nothing special and way overpriced. The area is nice but the course itself is too close to the road and it spoiles the atmosphere. The final 5 or 6 holes are actually very nice. They are more secluded, surrounded by expensive property and you start to feel like you're playing on a reasonable good track.
It was a Saturday so can't really comment on pace. They only allow one small bucket of balls for the range, which was frustrating because we arrived early to get some practice in. We did get a lunch voucher, that was a nice touch.
We played Shingle Creek the day before, for a similar price and you just can't compare the two.
Celebration
Great course, staff, and location. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
Golf conditions
The green was in a very bad shape and the price for a Ryder is very expensive
A mideocre course with lovely staff.
I always love Celebration Golf Course due to the styling of the clubhouse, food, and staff. I feel that a $40 riders fee for my husband as a non player is too expensive..especially as a single woman player. The greens were poor as they had been cored…but not sanded enough…and were in need of water and fertiliser. We did meet the biggest alligator ever….Bruno…a great addition to the course.
So sad to see the Course in such bad condition
Greens and tees in a terrible condition, fairways only marginally better. We have played the course before so we know how it can look an play, such a let down. Dont think well risk it again, there are courses in better condition out there with lower green fees.
The course was just overseeded
Normally a great conditioned golf course, however, they had just overseeded forcing Cart Path Only. They had also recently punched the greens leaving them quite bumpy. I'd wait a few weeks before playing again.
Course review
Apparently the course had just been aerated, which they failed to mention when we booked our tee time. So the greens were in bad shape. Tee boxes were pretty beat up as well.
When we played it was cart path only despite dry conditions. Again, we only found that out when we arrived. At least 6 of te pin placements were 10 paces from the edge of the green. One pin was 5 paces and one was 3 paces!
Not a good value for the money spent.
More info would have been helpful
We played Celebration on a day that the course was “cart path only” for some unknown reason - it wasn’t wet. On a hot day like it was it would have been nice to have had advance notice of the restriction as they get your email address when you book - perhaps we would have rescheduled. Also, the greens had been punched sometime in the previous week so were quite bumpy. Other than those two issues the course was very nice, a great layout and lots of challenges.

I agree completely with this assessment. We brought friends from out of town to play Celebration and it was very disappointing to see the tee boxes and greens in such poor conditions. The clubhouse warned us about overseeding and it being cart path only which is fine but the state of the greens was heartbreaking. At over $100 pp, it was SAD. I doubt I;ll ever return,
