Celebration Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, FL is a public golf course that opened in 1996. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Celebration Golf Club measures 7038 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 140 and a 74.5 USGA rating. The course features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass.
Father and son team of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. created a golfing experience that is second to none at Celebration Golf Club. As a result, Celebration is a championship venue with the park-like feel of a modern, Florida course.
They were also successful in creating separate personalities between the nines. On the front, many holes border wide boulevards lined on the other side by pre- 1940 replicate homes from America's southern region and that of Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. But with the back, the homes fade into the brush letting Mother Nature take center stage. Designed with shot-making strategy in mind, this championship caliber course demands accurate approach shots and consistent putting.

A mideocre course with lovely staff.
I always love Celebration Golf Course due to the styling of the clubhouse, food, and staff. I feel that a $40 riders fee for my husband as a non player is too expensive..especially as a single woman player. The greens were poor as they had been cored…but not sanded enough…and were in need of water and fertiliser. We did meet the biggest alligator ever….Bruno…a great addition to the course.
So sad to see the Course in such bad condition
Greens and tees in a terrible condition, fairways only marginally better. We have played the course before so we know how it can look an play, such a let down. Dont think well risk it again, there are courses in better condition out there with lower green fees.
The course was just overseeded
Normally a great conditioned golf course, however, they had just overseeded forcing Cart Path Only. They had also recently punched the greens leaving them quite bumpy. I'd wait a few weeks before playing again.
Course review
Apparently the course had just been aerated, which they failed to mention when we booked our tee time. So the greens were in bad shape. Tee boxes were pretty beat up as well.
When we played it was cart path only despite dry conditions. Again, we only found that out when we arrived. At least 6 of te pin placements were 10 paces from the edge of the green. One pin was 5 paces and one was 3 paces!
Not a good value for the money spent.
More info would have been helpful
We played Celebration on a day that the course was “cart path only” for some unknown reason - it wasn’t wet. On a hot day like it was it would have been nice to have had advance notice of the restriction as they get your email address when you book - perhaps we would have rescheduled. Also, the greens had been punched sometime in the previous week so were quite bumpy. Other than those two issues the course was very nice, a great layout and lots of challenges.
Tee boxes were terrible
Fairways had been overseeded and greens had been punched
Cart path only because of overseeding.
The course was poor and there was no warning prior to booking about cart path and overseeding.
This was our top pick and most expensive pick of 6 rounds in 8 days
So disappointed, total waste of money.
I hound it interesting that they were the only course that charge 2 state tax per person over and above.
Slow play
We arrived early for our 10.06am tee time around 09.15 to grab a breakfast before starting, only to find out that the restaurant didn't open until 10.30!
The course was not in great shape. I have played this course many times over the years and it was in the worse condition I've seen it. The tee boxes were bald in patches with pitch marks, the rest were long and messy, the fairways had been overseeded, so understandable it had a no cart rule, the greeens had been punched 3/4 weeks previously but, needed to be rolled as so bumpy. The new hole locations had just been cut and pulled making all around the holes crowned (always used a 4x4 sheet of ply with a 6 inch hole cut in the middle before cutting and plugging). The pace of play was super slow, it took 5.5hrs to play 18 holes, with some holes having 4/5 groups on a hole! Just being greedy $$$ keeping the same set tee times between groups yet having a cart ban on fairways = slow play and needed more time between the tee times?
bad course
the greens were in bad condition, the ball was bouncing a lot, they had different speeds, the tees were in very bad condition with no grass. and they charged me a high price for the course being in bad condition and carpet only.
Cart path only prior to reseeding
We booked the round on GolfNow and there was no mention of cart path only. When we arrived at the course, we were informed that it was cart path only. They said they were reseeding the next day. The tee boxes and greens were in excellent condition, but fairways were worn and not in good shape. Hopefully reseeding will fix that.
Love this course.
One of my favorite courses in Central Florida.
The greens were punched two weeks ago. Still healing and bumpy. Cart Path only due to overseeing. This is expected this time of year and makes for a nice course.
Our pace was very good considering cart path only. 4 hours. Only had to wait for the group in front of us after the turn. Some stop for food, we did not so we caught up to them on 10th tee. The ground crew was very respectful for noise while playing your ball.
Staff is incredibly friendly from bag drop to stater to the pro shop and snack/drink cart girl.
I agree completely with this assessment. We brought friends from out of town to play Celebration and it was very disappointing to see the tee boxes and greens in such poor conditions. The clubhouse warned us about overseeding and it being cart path only which is fine but the state of the greens was heartbreaking. At over $100 pp, it was SAD. I doubt I;ll ever return,
