Penderbrook Golf Club

I booked this course for less than $50, so perhaps I can't complain too much, but I experienced multiple problems and disappointments with this course. First, they do not have a driving range, they only have a net with four pads. They do not provide range balls, so you have to use your own. Not ideal.

Second, after the 9th hole, the course does not rap around the clubhouse. So be prepared to bring water and other drinks with you because you won't have a chance to stop by the pro shop to get any during your round. (There was a beverage cart out there and the driver provided good service).

Third, the pace of play was slow. I played during a weekday afternoon and it took 4.5 hours. They need to get a marshal out there to help move things along. There were a number of slow/beginner golfers in front of me that really slowed down pace of play.

I would come back for $40. Anything more and it's not worth it to me.

There were some very negative aspects during the round,which I won't touch on due to the fact that courses usually aren't concerned or it will go overlooked. What I want to do is give credit where credit is due . The saving grace of the round was the young lady who was driving the beverage cart that day . I believe her name was Abby . She was the nicest, friendliest staff member we encountered . She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great round and were welcomed . Having worked in the golf industry, it's employees like her that make customers feel welcomed and want to return . She was fantastic all day . I have rated staff friendliness at one star, which I stand by, negative stars actually...that does NOT include Abby, she was a 5 star staff member ...the others not so much . The other staff could learn alot from her on how to interact with customers. She saved the day . Do better penderbrook, relax a little bit. It's not pine valley or Augusta national .

The course is in good but not great shape. Some fairways and scattered areas lacking turf. Greens are in good shape. It’s too expensive for those conditions though.

Nice course, excellent greens. The sand traps will bite you unexpectedly. Friendly staffs and excellent food

Coure is ok, much better than it used to be.

Staff unprofessional and defensive. Experienced sprinkers that wouldn't turn off. After waiting, had to play through multiple sprinklers trying to dodge.. When I requested they turn off, or figure something out, I got a "Can't do anything, too bad" kind of answer. When I asked for compensation for the round pro shop literally laughed in my face. I was told I would receive a call from her boss, the director of golf. After 2 days with no call, I decided to call back. I got a lot of excuses and an insincere apology. When I mentioned the round was slow, he vehemently disagreed saying the carts have gps and I couldn't have been more than a few minutes over pace. I definitely waited on first tee box for 20 minutes and multiple others for a 5+ hour round (Read other reviews for similar experience). In the end I was offered a raincheck for only myself since I happened to get hit by the sprinkler. Others having to time their shots around the sprinklers did not warrant a raincheck since they did not happen to get hit. When asked about it his response was, "Haven't you playing summer golf? Everyone has to deal with sprinklers." Bottom line, if you play here with sprinklers on, take caution.

Ironically, I was the one to convince my foursome to play here saying it had "gotten better." I have already paid for the following round.

How Penderbrook operates is embarrassing and disappointing. It's likely the reason why there are always open tee times for "last resort" bookings. If the course is under capacity, it runs at a decent pace. If they're at capacity like some weekend days, it's painfully slow. I've probably played here over 100 times in spite of the poor maintenance and slow pace. However, there are too many courses in the area to have to deal with the unprofessional and disrespectful treatment I experienced. I will not be going back.

First time playing this weekend, and the course was in great shape. Greens were fast, but playable, and well maintained. A couple of non-level tee boxes, but nothing major.

Amenities were great. In particular, the cart driver, Amber, delivered fantastic service for an early round.

Penderbrook has made some significant improvements to the course Since I have last played there in the fall of 2020. It is in much better condition and better maintained. The rough is still too tall and needs a little work, but the greens are very nice and the fairways are in much better condition than they have been in the past. That being said, even with all the improvements Pace of Play continues to be an issue at this course. It is absurdly slow. I have only played here about 6 times over the last 3 years, but I have never had a round take less than 5 hours. You are constantly waiting on every hole. This is the reason I rarely play here despite the fact that it is close to my house and cheap to play 18 for the area.

Penderbrook is a nice course. Being straight off the tee is pretty important here. The bunkers were filled with water and the course was wet as to be expected. The greens were recently airrated and have not yet recovered.
