Very Green & In Great Shape
Given the drought we've had the last 5 weeks in Northern Virginia, I was shocked to see how green the course was. Lately the courses around here are green except for the rough. This rough was lush. Obviously they have plenty of water.
Can't wait to play Chantilly again!
Nice course
Layout was nice except for one hole where it was under repair so instead of par 4, it was a par 3.
Average private course.
Being so close to home and a Club Corp property, I've played Chantilly National a few times. While the practice facilities and clubhouse are great (the recently renovated clubhouse is impressive), this course is average at-best (relative to a lot of great golf courses in the Northern Virginia area).
There are a couple of great holes with challenging surroundings (water hazards); however, the majority of the holes are average and in sub-par shape for a private course. Specifically, there are many areas throughout the fairways that need significant renovation. And, I wouldn't recommend playing for at least a few days after a mild rain -- this course has one of the worst drainage environments I've seen.
Positives:

For ClubCorp members looking to try a new course, there are a few local courses that I prefer over Chantilly National. Try River Creek, Piedmont, or Norbeck.
