Twin Lakes - Oaks Course

I’ve played the Lakes course for years, but decided to play Oaks for the first time ever! Tee time 405pm! Was not impressed! First off, the younger high school players showed up for their tee time before us, LATE! So that delayed our group, which caused the Ranger to approach us thinking we held up the group behind us, funny thing he saw us waiting for them before we teed off. GREENS were in horrible condition! I expected better. Course was damp even though it did not rain! Glad I only played 9, $63 is a bit much for that for a late afternoon. Northern VA golf continues to disappoint day by day!

Played a threesome group that had great pace of play. Course was in good condition, fairways and greens. The tee boxes need TLC and rough were at ok length. The staff, starters were on point on cart assignment and group start announcement, but did not notice any Marshall going through the course. With pace of play being a no issue, had a smooth round of golf with the group.

The good: fun layout with good birdie opportunities, good mix of long and short holes, a driving range where you can actually hit off grass, they don’t overcharge you like most other courses in the area, plenty of water on the course

The not so good: staff could be friendlier, the marshall will not make groups play any faster no matter how slow they are

Decent layout with back nine much harder than front. Overall, fairly tight with really tough par 3s. Greens decent condition except for some rough patches and lots of ball marks.

Experience was tarnished by rude and obnoxious starter who berated our group on first tee for not hitting when the group ahead, who took a long time to play the hole, had not yet gotten to the bridge where you know they are out of range. Apparently he wants us to hit into them if they take too long to play the hole and then blames us for waiting. Totally obnoxious guy who shouldn’t be the face of the course.

Well designed layout with fair challenges such well positioned penalty areas and bunkers, shorter par 4s that are “gettable” mixed with 420yd challenges. Pace of play was 4 1/2 hours on a Saturday. Greens were a little slow and parts of some fairways were burnt out but otherwise, course conditions were good. Would definitely play there again.

The course was very well maintained and fun. It was good for parking. No one pushed into us and we were not paying into the group in front of us. Would really love to go back.

Had a great time playing the course in great condition this time of year and the pace of play was amazing. Highly recommend as the price for play is very affordable.

This course was in great shape when I played it. Greens rolled well!

All I will say, the staff made a way when there was no way to be made. Played the Oaks Course, pace of play was nice and even tho the greens are recovering for being punched, they rolled nicely. Definitely enjoyed it there.

Really should be simple to walk a public golf course. This isn’t a country club mark the holes properly. Played 2 holes. Not coming back again

The pace of play is horrendous. Waiting on T. box number four after one hour and 10 minutes.

Tried calling pro shop and continuously got put on hold or went straight to voicemail. No marshals noticed on course.

Too many slow paced players. There needs to be. Marshall’s on the course continuously telling slow players to pick up the pace or remove them from the course. Not fair for the for the average golfer to have to wait and not able to finish your round.

The greens were recently aerated and in rough shape, but they still charged full price. The layout is nice but even the grass around the greens were inconsistent.

Probably more of a nova issue but having to watch a group of 4 advance 100-150 yards at a time and treat each shot like it’s the masters is just brutal for trying to get into any type of rhythm. Left after 14, we were pacing 6 + hour round on a Thursday afternoon. Just brutal..very pretty property but shouldn’t stack 10 min tee times or if they are desperate for the funds at least enforce pace of play.
