About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Several holes with significant turf damage. Range is below par. Would give it another go; however current conditions bring questions of price to value for $100+ green fee.
Great Course
The course was one of the better courses I have played in the DMV area (only been here for 6 months, played about 10 courses). Course was in great condition. Played from the Blue tees. They allow walkers, that is fine, but took us 5-hours to finish, not so fine. Fairways were in great shape. Bunkers had sand. Greens were great, challenging. The collars of the greens were a bit rough/beat up which was the only negative on the course, but a small one. The putting green DID NOT match the course greens which cost me a 3-putt on the first hole for bogey (course was faster). Some fun holes that allow you risk/reward. Left about 7 strokes on the course, but shot a 77, so not too upset. Overall, I will definitely play there again, as long as the price is okay (it is expensive everywhere nowadays).
Great course
Great local course! The layout is beautiful as well as forgiving. With wide fairways, rural setting, and immaculately maintained from tees to green. It's been very dry and the course still looked full and beautiful. Visiting family from Florida and look forward to coming back and playing again.
Good layout, decent pace of play for the area, poor turf conditions
This course has a nice layout and pace is kept up relatively well (waited on last 3 holes). For $130 the turf was in bad shape. Greens were torn up with divots, fairways were dead in many spots, and tee boxes were not mowed. Overpriced for quality
Great Layout - Conditions need improved
The course is a great layout. The greens are in good condition and fun to play. The fairways are in good shape. The grass on the tee is not good and not taken car of. The rough is basically unplayable and unkept. If you miss a green or fairway, you could be just steps away and not find you ball, let alone try to advance it.
Had a very good time at Bull Run. Course was in great shape. Greens had been punched within the last month, still rolled pretty well.Played in just under 4 hrs. Nothing to dislike. One thing for management to consider. Stocking a couple non alcoholic beers would be nice. Overall still an A+.
Beautiful layout
Tee boxes a little bare and brown. Greens needed to be cut and rolled. Probably 7 on stimp. Still top 5 muni in the area.
Course needs maintenance
The staff were nice and attentive. The course, especially the tee boxes were in bad shape. Very little grass on the tees and if there was grass it was mixed with weeds. Overpriced. I would expect somewhere around 90.00 to play here during peak times. I like the layout of the course however. I will try again later in the season if I can find a deal to reassess.
Long day
The staff failed to keep the pace of play. Golfers were allowed to Play extremely slow. Open holes existed in front of us.
The course conditions are probably the worst that I have ever seen t this facility. Greens were aerated a little late leading to almost Impossible, putting conditions
