Great courses for the money, a step above the city course
The course isn’t amazing but it is good enough, great to have another good course in town (We‘ve lost three over the years) the staff is very friendly, the Ranger was super friendly, he picked me up at my car took me and my clubs to the check-in. Never got that anywhere else. sure it’s about six dollars more than the city course, but I think the staff friendliness and lack of being crowded and the pace of play is Worth it.
Golfing
Great course to play on. Well kept. Sanding could be a little bit spreading
Golfers
Fine course for the money considering cost of other courses
Great course and price
Great course for the price. We haven’t been here since June and it has come a long way. It’s in great shape. Keep up the good work
Compliments to the Owners
Turkey Creek has made an amazing resurgence. I always make a point to compliment the groundskeepers as they, along with many others, have brought this wonderful course back to life after years of neglect and closure.
This is our favorite course in the area. Gainesville CC is nice and has an interesting layout, but we enjoy the layout at Turkey Creek better. The CC at Lake City is nice, and has an interesting layout, but we enjoy Turkey Creek better,
This feels like a golf coursed community but, unlike some, the houses are not obtrusive. You are likely to encounter people walking, and walking their dogs, through the neighborhood. Everyone has been friendly and waves as if you are part of their community. It has a nice laid-back feel.
Rolling hills and a few lakes give the course "visual interest.." We have played many great golf courses in the U.S. We are not so interested in playing brutal courses that may be enjoyable for pros (Harbor Town in South Carolina comes to mind) as we are in playing courses that have landscape variety and visual interest. Golf is a wonderful walk in a park for us. My wife loves this course because her game is played entirely in the fairway, although she drives the ball about as far as I hit my 9-iron. Often, the women's tees are so far forward that it suits her game. That is a nice touch for short hitters.
The amount of work done to restore this course is obvious. The course is in good shape and they are still making improvements. As I mentioned, I always compliment the landscape personnel when I can.
The practice range was undergoing renovation last time I played. It looks to be an even more solid amenity. We usually enjoy a simple meal on the covered porch of the clubhouse after our round. It has a great view of the 18th hole. Do not expect the pro shop to have much more than some sleeves of a small selection of balls. Providing a few more items is probably on the future to-do list. The cart paths could use some improvement.
We will continue to play here as everything about the course, and it's feel, appeals to us.
