Golfer Reviews
Great cold weather round
We played in December with temps in the low 40's.
I think we were the only ones on the course for the first hour..
The course is very playable for all levels. No forced carries as advertised. The greens were in excellent condition and rolled true. Tee boxes were a little chewed up, especially on par 3's.
Good practice area though the range grass tees were closed down for the winter.
All in all, we had a great time and look forward to playing the course again.
too wet
Although the greens and fairways were in good condition, the course did not drain from rains a couple of days previous.
Great course, but need to adjust between fron and back
Great course and challengeable layout!
But need to balance course length between back and front.
The course has a great freture
I wish the price would be a bit lower. Since is off season now. Even during season the price is still high.
WELL LAID OUT
The course was great and it was a pleasure to have played at Blue Marsh.
Nice green speed.
Other than the fact that there were too many leaves on the green, it was a great golf course. We actually lost a ball on hole 16 even though it was hit right dow the fairway because of too many leaves. LOL
Truly recommendable
This was the second time to play here
The scenic is beauty and the course is great
It's basically flat but lots of strategic gimics I think
Definitely will come back again
Hey ladies, what are you waiting for?
This course is both challenging and fun. If you want to improve your game, I highly recommend playing Blue Mash ... and often. Elevated greens, some long holes to exercise your woods, and enough water to challenge but not intimidate. It’s a beautiful setting, too. Very peaceful with NO houses interrupting your view. Just woods, generous fairways, and well ... some sand. But it’s playable, so relax if your ball happens to find a bunker. I play Blue Mash regularly, and in all honesty, it’s helped lower my handicap because the course has a little bit of everything. And the practice range? No other facility comes close. Blue Mash is great for ladies, and they also offer a league -- just for us -- in the summer. Check it out!
Beyond Expectation
I have Played Blue Mash many times, and as I have enjoyed my experiences there, I have always left saying to myself that there is a lot more potential for the course to be something great.
BUT TODAY, I think Blue Mash has near reached that potential.
The staff was extremely friendly and very well organized. But more importantly the Golf course was in perfect shape. There was not one thing that I could point out as being wrong. Here are a few highlights of my day at Blue Mash.
Pros:
- I really appreciated the bag service I got when I pulled into the parking lot. The young man took my bag out of the trunk and loaded it onto my golf cart for me. (My old body really appreciated that)
- The best experience I had off the course was with the Starter. Even though he was a lot younger than any other starter I have ever seen, he was hands down the best guy for the job, and I wish more starters around were like him. He was very entertaining and captivating. He kept my entire attention while going over the rules for the course that day. He also made it very clear of his expectation of good pace of play (4hrs) and thanked us at the turn when we were 2min ahead of pace! He made us feel very welcome.
- And now to the course conditions, boy were they great (perfect actually) the greens were lighting fast and had a very true role. Fairways plush as always. And the rough was the perfect length, which was a nice change from earlier this summer. I hope the course can stay this perfect the rest of the day.
Cons:
-The only thing I didn't care for was the food. I would say compared to the quality of the rest of the place I would say that the menu items could use an upgrade. The grill staff was extremely nice and helpful. The dining room was clean and had a classy feel to it.
But like I stated earlier, Blue Mash has raised the bar yet again
Quality course!
Well designed course with some long par fours and very challenging par threes. The greens were firm and smooth. The fairways and roughs were manicured nicely. I hope to play there again very soon. The superintendent and staff have done an excellent job of keeping the course to very professional standards.
Great Conditions
I recently played Blue Mash and all I can say is how well the course has been maintained throughout the summer. The greens were smooth and fast considering it had rained the day before. The long par fours are challenging, however the fairways are open and allow for aggressive second shots. I thought the overall appearance of the course itself was great. Staff is helpful and friendly without interfering with the game. Pace of play was excellent; I never felt rushed or as if I was rushing the players in front of me. I played with a foursome on a Sunday and it only took four hours. Cheers to the maintenance staff and the superintendent for having a nicely manicured golf course.
New favorite
Saw it on GolfNow for the firs time and figured I should check it out. A gem, with a nice balance of links type holes and also the tree-lined fairways more common in this area. Great course conditions. Fast greens, lots of bunkers, water on some holes. Beautiful layout. Definitely a new favorite.
My one complaint is that I was paired up with a beginner threesome (nothing against beginners) that had ONLY 2 sets of clubs. First time I see any golf course allow that to happen, and it obviously made for a longer round.
Great Baltimore Washington Course
As a golfer that has been playing in the Washington DC area for over 20 years, I have to say that Blue Mash is by far and away the Top Course I have played. From the best practice facility in the area to the Outstanding greens, Blue Mash is unmatched. This course is one of a kind. The Open landscape and tall Fescue grass gives you the real sense of a Links style course. Blue Mash is a must play.
Challenging but Enjoyable!
Blue Mash is perfect! From the difficult first 3 holes to the wide open back nine, this course will challenge you without forcing you to re-tee at the first sign of trouble. Throughout the summer the greens continually sped up on me, and after my last round they were unarguably the best they've played all season. Living right outside of Baltimore I gladly sacrifice travel time to play Blue Mash.

Could be a great course but usually in poor condition
First let me say this is a great layout. I have played this course numerous times and every time I play it the course is slow and overwatered. This course is supposed to play firm and fast. I would recommend playing the course on a Tuesday or Wednesday because they only cut the course once a week ,yes I said once a week. I played the course on a Saturday and nothing had been cut. No fairways no tee boxes and no rough as it was 5 to 6 inches long. Hard to find your ball off the fairway. Bunkers have way too much sand in them and are basically unplayable. Worst bunkers in the state. Greens could be good but are way too soft and never roll over an 8 on the stimp. The staff is the best thing about this course. Friendly and eager to help. Food is good but takes way too long to get out when making the turn. I would recommend playing the sister course Waverly Woods over Blue Mash as it is always in great shape must have a way better superintendent. I like this course $25-$30 no way at $74-$89. They must be dreaming.
Great Layout
Beautiful layout and design. Great mix of links type and woodsy holes. Fairly open on tee shots, but has well-placed fairway bunkers on par 4's and second shots on par 5's. Greens are fairly large, but have a lot of rolls and breaks. Green speeds generally 8 or 9 on stimp.
Staff is helpful and friendly. Food is always freshly made.
Hi Guyping - I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by how nice the course is if you played it this Saturday. We are hearing nothing but rave reviews. We've cut the rough down to 2" and it is lush and tight. We also backed off the watering so it is playing much firmer and faster. The superintendent used a deeper tine on the bunkers for a few weeks this summer and they were too fluffy for a while, but they are perfect now. We have reduced rates for October so it is a great time to play.
