Camas Meadows Golf Club
About
Camas Meadows Golf Club is routed through the forested wetlands that surround Lacamas Lake, providing beautiful scenery and plenty of natural hazards. It feels secluded but the club is conveniently just a short drive from Portland International Airport. The challenging track is one of the most popular public golf courses in the Portland metro area. The layout features narrow and winding fairways lined with mature trees and over 50 crushed white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout. Water also comes into play on almost every hole. Some holes offer a risk-reward setup but most require a smart and careful approach as well as solid execution. At just over 6,500 yards, the course is somewhat short for a championship layout but no less challenging. It is a good compromise for casual golfers who still want to play a high quality round of golf.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Washington (2017 #7)
Reviews
Moderate value.
On this particular date of play, many greens had some "rough" areas, which is not the norm for this course, the pace of play was somewhat slow, although it was a Friday,
the Starter was excellent and very accommodating - he alone made the experience worth it.
Great Course, Very relaxing, Staff was friendly except for club house itself.
Only played this a couple times and that was during tournaments. Played this time just as a walk on, and it was 10 times more pleasurable. Club house personnel made you fell like you were just a bother to them, but once out on the course the atmosphere was excellent. Marshall's are very cordual and friendly. Course is well maintained except for the fungus that was prevelant on almost all the greens. Think I'll blame mother nature, because everything else was 4 star. Driving range opens late at 06:30am. Too Late for us early risers and early "T" times.
Great conditions and very challenging.
I would certainly put this course on my "to play list" the next time I am in the area.
Not the same course I played before
Greens were in terrible shape, very disappointing because the last time I played 2 months ago they were perfect. Fairways were over watered I plugged a couple balls in the fairway. It's August and we haven't had rain for over a month. I hope they get it figured out because I really like the track. Just simply not worth the 75 dollars per person we payed with a cart.
Quality Experience
This course and club are the best Clark County has to offer the general public. A challenging layout with many holes playing carries over natural wetlands which were nicely protected at time of course development. Also has a nice driving range where you can hit off the grass or when its wet you can play from mats under cover..
Get spoiled by GPS in the cart
If you choose to walk this course, note that there is long distance between holes.
Camas is nice as always....
What can I say? Camas is a nice challenge especially given the yardage. The staff is always super professional and compared to a lot of tracks, it's in good shape. I was a little surprised this time around about the shape of the course. The greens weren't rolling as slick as normal, and there were a couple un-Camas like maintanence issues like the jacked-up bunker on 15 and the tee on 18. Of course, every course has some ground under repair areas, but it was just a notch down from where it was last time I played it.
Beautiful course and friendly staff.
I have always loved this course from the very first time I played here. It is challenging yet I feel a calmness going through each and every hole. It is well maintained, beautiful lush greens and flowers surround you, tall trees and wetlands just add to it's beauty. The views of Mt. Hood wow! what more can I say... The course inspires me to play well :) Oh and the Golf Carts are great..they actually run and not pot, pot along
Sand Traps need attention
The only thing that needs attention are the bunkers
Each bunker is in different states of repair of sand type and condition. Spend a few beny's on the bunkers!
A beautifull day on a great course
Fairways and greens were in excellent shape, and the pace of play was nice. Great da.
Costly Summertime Course
This is a great course and has some of the most gorgeous homes lining several holes. The course is not overly challenging and is well-maintained. Winter time rates are the only way to get on for under $50 on a weekend (even twilight is $48); however, there are some spots where you will wish you brought waders - most of the course if fine in the winter. They do have GPS in the carts as an added bonus. Be prepared to hike if you plan to walk this course, great distances between holes.
a wonderful country setting
the course has modest length on the par threes, but good slope on the greens. The par five holes have bunkers or hazards for each shot , and the par four holes offer intesting hazards and characteristics of their own. A very nice course, but one that is difficut to walk because of the occasional long distance from green to tee.
great course
the course is in great condition. everything from the rough to the greens were very consistent. the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions that i had. even though i am breaking in a new set of irons and am playing like garbage, i had a very enjoyable round of golf. ive never had any problems with this course.
It was in great shape
We would reccomend anyone to play this course, the course was in great shape
Without cart it would be a long walk
Great course to play. Nice views wandering through the wetlands. There is quite a bit of distance between holes at times. Few hazards to hit over but fairways wide enough to be forgiving. Greens a little bumpy. Looked like they had been plugged a week or two ago. Would play again.
Good course, staff could use some interpersonal skills
Course was in very good condition, even in the still-wet spots. Pro shop attendant was very dismissive and seemed rather irritated after I told him I booked my tee time through this website rather than the Camas Meadows tee time booking. Didn't ask if I was walking or riding; simply tacked on the cart fee while charging the golfnow rate and seemed more irritated when I told him I was choosing to walk. Would play again if the staff made me feel more like a paying customer than an annoyance, but this wasn't the first time. This is no reflection of my view, as a customer, of Golfnow and/or it's services. I love Golfnow...it just seems that golf courses don't.
This course has many different holes.
This is a very interesting course. It starts out with a fairly mondane par 4 followed by a long par 3 over a nature perserve. Many of the holes feature natural wetlands which you must carry as they are protected. Most of the holes are lined with either trees or have strategically placed fairway bunkers so shot accuracy is a must. The greens are well maintained as is the rest of the course. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The clubhouse is great and has a full service bar and good food.
Tight, short course, carts a good idea.
I know, the review summary seems at odds with itself, it's short but you need a cart? As so often happens with newer courses, placed in urban area's, the course designer has to work with what he or she is given. Much of the layout has area's of wetland that have been designated area's of natural interest. As such, these can be built in, entered just driven by, this leads to significant walks from green to the next tee-box. From 17th green to the 18th tee box for example, I've been informed it's 365 yards, almost a par 4 in itself, 14 thru 16 wind through a local neighbourhood as it does also through 4 thru 9, with long distances separating green and tee in places. Long story short, though the holes might be short, white tee's are 5700 yards, blue are 6200, if you're going to struggle making those distances carrying your bag or with a pull cart, a motorized cart is a good investment for the day.
The course itself tends to require precise drives from the tee, if you can't keep your driver straight, you will struggle at times to keep your ball in bounds. That being said, if you can achieve this, it's also a course you can score on. The slope rating really only kicks in on one hole, the long par 5 9th and perhaps the long par 4 14th, other than that you won't find too many lies where you're required to respect the slope on your shot.
As mentioned before, the course is placed to fit around wetlands, it's low lying in many places. This leads to the fairways retaining water well into early summer, don't expect
a lot of run when hitting from the tee, what you carry in the air is largely what'll you end up driving.
It's a course I enjoy playing but one I'm aware of in advance, straight driving is at a premium. I use it as a good indicator of how well I'm driving, once your ball is in play, you'll have a lot of opportunity to fire at pins from short distance and find out if your approach play is good enough to put you position to go low. If this doesn't describe your game, you may want to think about spending your money elsewhere, it's just not fun hitting 3 off the tee and losing a ball with regularity.
One last note, about carts here, all of which I think are equipped with GPS. I have, at times, found the yardage from them to be at odds with what the actual yardage on the course is. You could probably say this of all golf yardage GPS systems, the technology is reliant on establishing a signal from low-orbit. 10 yards isn't much to be off by from 300 miles up but it can be all the difference when informing your decision of what club to hit on approach. Check your yardage on the ground as well as on the screen if you can. Flushing a pitching wedge you feel is the right club and watching it sail over the pin and off the back of the green is not amusing.
lots of fun
play all the time its always a fun course to play can be wet
Best public course in SW Washington
For wet February conditions, there were only a few spots on the fairway or nearby rough that were soggy and holding water. Greens were in decent shape and bunkers had been raked. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Since it included a cart, excellent value.
