Great track
Excellent course maintenance. Beautiful. A respectively shorter course. Also a good challenge to all.
End of the season round
I won't ever get over how gorgeous this course is. The sight lines are great and it's just a pleasure to be out there most of the time. My round this last weekend went off without a hitch (except for our cart dying on the 12th hole - they came to our rescue within 5 minutes).
The only thing I will say is that compared to my round from about a month or so ago you can start to tell that this course is coming up on the end of the season. A few of the tee boxes were rather chewed up, the yardage markers are all grown over and difficult to locate and the sand traps hadn't been tended to within the last few days (like hitting off hard dirt in some of them).
Positives are that the rates have dropped for the end of the season and that as of October 11th the course hadn't been aerated yet. Get out there while you still can- just don't hit it into the sand, but you knew that already!
Course in great condition
The golf course was in great condition. Greens are running fast. My only suggestion would be to add more yardage markers.
Ranks As One of Our Two Favorites
We can't say enough good things about this course.
The layout takes advantage of the rolling hills above the Kentucky River with gentle up and down fairways, very few water hazards, and small well-place bunkers.
The course had just been mowed, something they apparently do often to keep it in such great shape. Overall, the tee boxes, fairways and greens were the best we've played on all year. The only flaws were some seasonal wear around the fringes of a couple of greens on the back nine..
As first-timers we were offered the Course Guide, and after noticing the first fairway was void of the usual distance markers we turned to the well-designed booklet. The text suggests where to place tee and fairway shots and the image for each fairway and hole provides the distance certain landmarks are from the green AND the tee (something we've never seen anywhere else).
This classy course and its staff provided us one of the best golf experiences ever, and we look forward to playing it as often as financially possible.
Love the Bull
Course was in great condition. A little slow play at times, but overall a great time! Love the Bull.
A Very Fun Course
The course was a little dry when I went, but the greens are kept green.
Despite it being dry, the fairways do not have weeds.
The carts are battery and fast. They keep up with fast pace of play very well.
I will definitely play here again.
Mixed Bag
My son and I played this course the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which may have impacted the pace of play. We had to wait at every tee box. Once had 4 groups jammed up on same hole. Considering the hot, dry weather the course was in good shape. Fairways and greens were generally good, especially for late summer.. Sand traps, however, we awful. They needed sand and weeding--some had crabgrass growing in them. Course has some nice holes, but there are far too many side-hill lies to suit me, plus what appeared to be good drives bled off into the rough with too great a frequency. Staff was friendly and facilities were fine.
Fun course
Nice course and very playable. None of the surrounding houses really come into play. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems as if they want to hurry you out of the pro shop if you book through golf now. Golf was excellent just few extremely wet areas in fairways for no particular reason ; possibly a drainage issue.
Nice course, slow back nine
Course was in good shape but is being over watered. Would definitely play again but be ready for soft conditions. Pace was very slow on the back nine. Had four groups on one hole multiple times
Very nice course
I have only been playing for a couple years but this is one of the nicest courses I've been on. I will certainly be back, especially if I can catch another hot deal.
Golfernut53
Good course and fun to play ! Good rates on golf now makes it with the drive . Look forward to going back !
nice course
Very nice cart paths; greens; fairways and tee boxes. Fantastic deal with hot deal of the day. Back nine a lot tougher then the front. Only bad review sand traps; very bad condition.
Bull
Best course for this price you can get, weather was only reason course wasn't in perfect condition.
Great course
In good shape. They repaved the cart paths and have new sand. Always pleased with the value. Played for 10 bucks on a great course.
good condition!
it was pretty good condition over all and well maintenanced fairways, greens & bunkers! Better than last year! I would like to play again soon.
Boone's Trace
The course was in excellent condition. The weather was on the hot side but their was cold water placed by many of the tee boxes on the golf course. The greens were the best of any course I've played on this year.
Requires good ball placement to score well.
Fairways and greens in great shape. Bunkers are dirt rather than sand. Tee and second shots require good placement. An errant shot will leave you out of position to score and facing poor hilly lies. Course has significant elevation changes on most holes. I liked it but it is a difficult course if you do not like less than flat lies.
Very nice public facility
Boone's Trace Golf Club is very nice public facility with a challenging layout for players of all levels. The cart paths were recently repaved and in good shape. The fairways were in excellent condition as were the greens.
Although I was fortunate to miss them, I did note that the bunkers were very hard, mostly filled with dirt and no sand. My playing companion had difficulty hitting out of the sand traps as there was no sand in them.
The clubhouse is beautiful, with a recent addition of an enclosed dining area. The staff was friendly and professional. I would recommend Boone's Trace to anyone for a great experience at the best full service public facility in Central Kentucky.
kenree71, I thought it was just me, but I've noticed that on almost every round I've ever booked through GolfNow -- regardless of the Course -- they act like it's some kind of "necessary evil" to honor the price/tee time.
Which of course begs the question of why they are even a participating Course if it "bothers" them so much.
