Soldiers Creek Golf Club
About
The course at Soldiers Creek Golf Club was designed by Scott Clark, a former Golf Course Superintendent at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama and the current Superintendent at The Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores Alabama. While this is Scott's first attempt in playing the role of a course architect, it also reveals his depth of experience in the golf course industry. The design goals of building a course that would be enjoyable for high handicappers as well as low handicappers was met in this design.
The course features wide player-friendly fairways. Also, water comes into play on only two holes which makes navigating this course easier for high handicappers. A large natural turf driving range and 10,000 square foot practice green is available as a warm-up or practice area.
Soldiers Creek Golf Club is owned by the Norman Woerner family. Norman is a member of the Woerner Turf family of sod producers. Woerner Turf is a world-wide leader in turf production. The company provides turf for many golf courses ranging from Augusta National to new courses in Hong Kong. They also supply the turf for the NFL Super Bowl and the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
Southern Turf Nurseries provided the Tif Eagle for Soldiers Creek Golf Club. This turf grass is considered by many to be the best-of-the-best turf for southern golf course greens. The fairways and roughs are Tif 419, a dense-growing emerald-colored grass that's perfect for plush fairways. The greens feature Tif Eagle, the newest and best-of-the-best southern turf grass for golf course greens. An increasingly popular choice for new golf courses and redesigns, this turf permits a closer cut, thus allowing for smoother, faster greens.
Located only several miles from Alabama's sun-kissed Gulf Coast, this new 18 hole championship course is part of the Woerner Preserve Resort. Our friendly staff welcomes you to play the newest course on the Gulf Coast. Yes, we are now open. Come spend some time with family or friends. Relax and enjoy a round of golf in this natural setting.

Rough Start but Good Finish
When we got to the Clubhouse we were told they do not use Golf Now and that our prepaid T Time was not valid. However they did have our T time and they got it through golf now. Eventually the manager said she would take it and fight it out with Golf Now.
The course is wooded and very secluded. Most of the time you feel like you are the only ones there. We played quickly and really enjoyed it. The greens are a mesd. Seems to be hard to have nice greens here. Frre water from cart girl was nice.
The course is not rated for GHIN. We were playing with friends who were out for the first time all year and we played best shot. They really liked it.
Great value
The course is really quite nice. Decent layout that manages to be challenging without being punishing. The conditions were pretty great considering it was late Dec. Overall a nice day out.
Like the course overall
Good layout, fairways are in pretty good condition, a few greens have major mold issues but putted ok.
Cool
Fun course dog legs traps water kind of a target cours3e had great fun
Staff very friendly . Not much in club house /pro shop.
Liked course layout . Fairways were ok. Tee boxes and greens lacking in grass and very bumpy. Course is scenic with tree lined fairways. A fun place to play.
Liked the rolling fairways . Green fees were to high for course conditions . I will play here again .
Enjoyable round.
We were a 3 threesome and had a lot of fun playing this course. Layout was interesting with a nice variety of well treed fairways, giving you the feeling that you had the course to yourself. Fairways were generous, par 3's were fun and fair. Condition overall were very good with greens rolling fast and fair. Family owned course where they care about your experience. We spoke with the owners after our round, nice hard working people.
Pleasantly Surprised
After reading some of the reviews we were not expecting much and all four for us were pleasantly surprised. We would play it again when we are in the area.
Good course
Really pretty course that’s carved into the woods. Many good holes. Greens are respectable, and tees and fairways are good.
Jabdilla
Course is well kept.faraways and greens, traps are fine.I love playing with no one in front of me.took just over 2 hours
Intriguing country course
This course has a thinking person's routing. You should not just pull the driver on every hole. Add a little wind and it is easy to overthink things. Listen to the locals and you will stay out of trouble. There are areas to recover poor shots and a short shot (including topped ones) is nearly always playable.
You will not be bored with the routing as there is a lot of diversity. Water comes into play on some holes, but not a majority.
The greens have some damaged areas and this is the only reason for the lower rating. I think this is due to the dry season.
If you are not a scratch golfer, give the course a try to find your swing. You will find a happy place.
Smart pin placement
Greens have good spots and bad. As long as you land around the pin the greens are great. Land 15 feet from the pin could be in a bear spot or have to go over a bad spot.
Great layout
This course has a great layout. Love how it is really tight in some spots off the tee and that you’ll be hitting every club in your bag throughout your round. The course was a ghost town at 11am on a Sunday, so the pace was fantastic. The staff was very nice and I’m sure are great people, so I’m trying to take that in to consideration writing this review. We booked a hot deal for over $100 for two players, which some may say is not a big price tag for 2 players, as did I, before ever playing the course. Driving range was soaked, we live 15 minutes down the road and we haven’t seen much rain at all this past month, so that was surprising. The greens were in terrible condition. Definitely “un-puttable” in some areas. Fairways started out wet and very spotty, but did seem to dry up as the day went on. Didn’t see a cart girl the entire time. Overall to play in the future, I would expect to pay no more than $25 a round and wouldn’t play it before noon, if similar conditions continue.
