Fun links style course

First time I have played this course in about 25 yrs. Fun layout. Some greens need attention but that’s a common battle in the region. We got the Hot Deal which made it worth while. I gave the price 3 stars based on the regular price which I would have been disappointed in. The amenities are what they are (average) but for $85 on a week day I would have expected the greens to be in better shape. The carts do not have gps.

Fun layout

Links style, with lots of mounds & difficult approach shots due to bunkering and several elevated greens. Wind also a major factor on this day, adding to the fun. Greens were ok, a little rough on 3 or 4 holes. Would be 5 stars once greens are back in top shape.

Look forward to playing again.

Great layout, old Tifgreen 328 Bermuda Greens

Mark, the Pro, was top notch. Very professional and made us feel welcome. Also, accommodated our a late arrival and got us off immediately after we arrived. Glen Lakes had a very good layout. The Tees, Fairways and Bunkers were in very good shape 4.5/5.

Unfortunately, the greens are old Bermuda 328 Tifgreen grass. Which at their best, roll 8/9 on the stimp-meter. Green conditions on 7/16/26 when I played: very small greens, most were fully covered in grass, and rolled okay. Several greens had bad spots within the putting surface. Overall, they were slow, very grainy and very bumpy. I would rate these 2.9/5.

If scoring and green speed aren't important to you, this is a fun course to play. But going low isn't a possibility. IMHO. If this course invested in new putting greens, such as Champions Bermuda, Mini-Verde, Tifeagle or Tifdwarf strain, the course could increase revenues and ribs played.

On my way to Biloxi

Glenlakes golf course was in excellent condition. Greens were in good shape, average speed. Front side (Dunes) a creative course with tight fairways and postage stamp size greens, very challenging, no matter which tees you choose. Back side (Vista) a little more open and a little less difficult, but still challenging as you still get to hit to small greens! And after golf, Lamberts Cafe is just up the street!!!

Course is in great condition and great value

Only got to play 10 holes because of a thunderstorm, but the Dunes course was in great condition. Fun but challenging 9 holes. If you are in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, it is worth the drive for the course and the lower cost.

Nice Course

Good round of golf. No outside beverages allowed Saw the cart girl after 3 holes, then again on the fourth hole and never again. Other than missing an opportunity to sell drinks, it was a good round.

Look at the greens first

Greens are terrible, fairways are pretty good. If you hit the fairway there are no level lies.

It Could be Great

Glenn Lakes is posturing as an elite course in the Foley area. With a little more effort it could be one.

1. Staff - I have never had any issues with anyone of the associates *****

2. Amenities - it would be a benefit of the pro shop had more choices ****

3. Tee boxes - overall decent, but a few could be impurities as you need a hammer to get a tree beyond a quarter inch **** 1/2

4. Fairways - the Fairways are excellent and consistent *****

5. Greens - thet have improved, but still to many grassless spots. Gulf Links at a fraction of the cost are premium *** 1/2

6. On course amenities - filtered water station on each side but warm. No coolers and never had a cat girl come by. The bathrooms are clean and decent. ****

Close, but at a premium price it's not close. It's like calling a Chrysler 300 a Bentley because it has some similarities.

Good day!

Vacationing in the area and looked for a value priced course. This course exceeded our expectations. Plenty of risk/reward shots. Greens were in good shape and rolled true. Pace of play was a little slow, but we expected that. Friendly staff, all in all worth the money.

Dunes / Vista nines

The course has 27 holes; I played the Dunes & Vista nines. They were very different: The Dunes had a lot of mounds, bumps, hollows & elevation changes. The Vistas were flatter & had less challenge due to uneven stances and side hill lies. A couple holes (#17 & #18) were uninspiring-like they just squeezed them into the space left.

The conditions were ok overall, fairly slow greens but consistent. The course was generally good, but a little rough around the edges. The clubhouse seemed run down.

I’d go back again- overall good layout.

Glen Lakes-Golf review

Guys, I played this track, recently, to get to the point, drastic price increase over the last 12 months, it is a $40-45 dollar course, charging $65-80 dollars.

The greens are spare with desirable grass, “weeds”, visible, sand traps, full of weeds, tee boxes spotty with grass.

* Needs much work, rehabilitation, to get back to playable conditions. I’m amazed they’re getting the price for a round of Golf!

* Sprinkler system leakage everywhere!
