Lost Key Golf Club
About
Lost Key Golf Club is conveniently situated equidistant from the historic downtown area of Pensacola and the pristine white sand beaches of Orange Beach and the Gulf Shores. The Arnold Palmer-designed layout was Florida's first golf course to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. It underwent a major renovation in 2006 that included the addition of 2,200 native trees, 13,000 wetland plantings, and the resurfacing of the tees, greens, fairways, and rough. The golf course now presents a formidable test for even the most seasoned golfers. The greens are large and undulating and the flat fairways are lined with trees. There are also doglegs fairways on six holes and sand bunkers on several others. Lost Key Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 13th hole, which requires a tee shot over water to a partial island green that rolls across dramatic elevation changes.

5’-6’ away on 16 Par 3. Pretty close for a hole-n-one. Got the bird though! Great course. Photo submitted by stepgarr2 on 08/05/2021

Approach to No. 9 Green Photo submitted by ShragMagtite on 10/09/2017
Lost Ball
Played Lost Key GC with aerated greens, and predictably the putting surface was not at all good. The greens at Lost Key are very large to begin with but with the conditions they are extremely slow rolling. Good luck with trying to lag putt or expect a break to go where you would think. It definitely cost me at least 3 strokes.
In addition to the green’s conditions my normal gripes of having absolutely no bail out room with little or no rough just very thick foliage. Hit one off line and you’ve lost a ball, thus the title of this review. Lastly I still have issues with holes # 17 & 18. They are extremely long where the rest of the course is predictable; these two holes are set up to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
There’s a reason I haven’t played here for two years.
My review
This is very challenging course to play but I enjoy playing it. I like the natural layout it has
Great Day!
The greens are large and in good shape, in a few weeks they'll be in great shape, currently a little bumpy and slow. The fairways need some help, some have grass, some do not, generally have to roll your ball onto grass if in the fairway. Generally I love the course, it is fairly challenging yet fun. It used to be in better shape, hope it'll get there soon
Lost Balls
i read the reviews before playing here and i saw someone mention that they should rename this course “Lost Balls”… i’d have to agree. If you are not a scratch golfer you should not play here. The course will be miserable for you. It’s super tight and the greens are small. To add, the greens were perfect but the grass off of the greens was very mid and spotty. Bottom line is if you don’t hit straight, it’s a 2 to 3 sleeve of balls type of round. I’m a 7 handicap, and felt a real challenge, but my dad is more of a 15 handicap, and he just had a terrible time. i felt bad for the lad.
Good course overall but some staff members not friendly.
Course was in good condition overall. The play was slow especially on back 9 where it felt like several people got in front of us that were not playing the first 9. Some of the staff members we not that nice amd were short with us and appeared to have a bad attitude about things.
Lost Balls should be the name
Course is extremely difficult for an average golfer. Lost way too many balls. Unable to really try to look for them. Tight fairways and a ton of bunkers and traps made it even more difficult. Greens were in good shape but fast and hard to read. Definitely not worth the money to be frustrated and lose so many balls. Glad the weather was nice for us.
Lost Keys turns into Lost Balls
Terrific course in good condition. Price s decent as well. Greens are in really good shape but roll a little slow. Tough course but really nice!
Water the fairways
This was a fun course to play. Alot of placement golf, depending on how far you hit the ball. We were very impressed by the greens. They were in immaculate shape and had a perfect pace. However, the fairways were not so good. Alot of bare spots and needed some serious growth. You shouldn't be penalized hitting a fairway then having to hit off of hard clay, especially around a few of the greens. Still, we liked the layout, and had fun.
Charged me Twice
Had $63 hot deal paid in advance on golf now, at course was told I didn't have hot deal so I was charged another $91 full price. Seems like a good golf now deal...Only !54 for a HOT DEAL
My Favorite Course
Challenging course, but very fun! Course staff always pleasant and helpful!
Well kept and difficult course
Course was in great shape other than the greens- weather needs to be warmer for the greens to come back fully. In April or May this course will be in perfect condition!!
Fun, but challenging course
The course was in good shape, with the greens in excellent conditions. There is a lot of sand everywhere so that what makes it a tougher course but worth it for the money
