Ballantrae Golf Club

We've had a lot of rain lately so it was wet and cart path only. But the place is in great shape. Very pretty course and such a fun layout.

Played at noon on the last day of July. I booked as a single and got paired up with another single. To start the staff was very friendly and helpful in the clubhouse. The driving range was in good shape, and had a water cooler available there to keep cool. The weather had been hot and dry for the previous week, but the course was still in great shape. Fairways were bouncy and trimmed, rough was thick but manageable, and greens were quick on account of a recent trim and the hot dry weather. They rolled very true, and the changing undulation at times made the greens a fun challenge. The course layout itself is a fun one. Not a ton of elevations change, but more of a winding course back right and left. There are some fun par threes with varying distances and water hazards. Cart girls are available, but we only saw her once on the front and once on the back nine. The marshal rode around with ice cold wet towels for anyone who wanted one, and that was a nice relief in the peak heat of the day. All in all 4.7 out of 5 stars. Great day on a fun course. I would recommend to anyone.

This is an excellent presentation of golf laid on a beautiful landscape. Everything about the place is top notch. The course is very playable from the tee box of your choice and then you must execute an accurate approach shot to challenging green complexes that are in perfect fast condition.

The course is in fantastic condition and is a beautiful layout. The driving range could use some work. Lose sight of ball in open and perhaps have defining areas around flags to pick up where you are placing the ball.

Ballantre is owned by the city of Pelham, AL, so it's technically a "municipal course," I guess. It is certainly one of the nicest munis one could find anywhere. On a pretty busy Friday afternoon, it still honestly had the feel of a "mid-level" private club - very attentive staff, beautiful clubhouse patio behind the 18th green, and decent pace of play (foursomes in front and behind us, two novices in ours, and we still finished in 4:20). If I lived closer, I'd be on their wait list for membership.

The course was in good shape, although it rained a lot so cart path only the few times I played, but the greens were in great shape putt true. I look forward to playing this track again.

My first time golfing here was unfortunately a terrible experience. I was paired with a group of three guys, which is fine. But on the fourth hole one of the guys accidentally hit into the group ahead of us. One of the guys from the other group completely lost his mind and started yelling and cussing at us. He walked all the way to the tee box and then proceeded to yell and scream directly in my face. He threatened me and cussed me out for almost 10 minutes. I wasn’t even the one who teed off into them and I don’t even know the guy who did. I wasn’t just paired with them. He continued to melt down yelling and screaming and threatening me until he finally drove off still screaming the whole way. Then the assistant manager came out and questioned us like we did something to deserve that type of treatment. They gave the aggressor who ruined my golf experience a free round and then did absolutely nothing to make up for the guy ruining my day. The course was beautiful though, and greens were in great condition. Just hope you don’t run into the wrong group of people when they are out playing their free round.

We had a foursome 3 seniors and 45 year old . For a couple of us it was the first on this course in quite sometime. Conditions were excellent. Our pace of play wasn’t what you’d call fast, needless to say that the threesome ahead of us played faster. However the foursome that was behind us was never waiting to take their shots our pace was better than there’s. However the course marshal even though polite encouraged us to pick up the pace twice.. I know he’s got a job to do but it was annoying and took some of the pleasure off our game, especially since we weren’t slowing up those behind us..Short of that great course to play, just know that there’s a clock you’re on.

I went to this course as a single player with cart and met up with 3 other people. It was an enjoyable round from beginning to end. The course is very fair with no waiting time and a very good pace.
