Ballantrae Golf Club

Course was in great condition for this time of the year, I just wish people would use the sand to repair divots!!

Ballantrae is one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played. It’s tucked away in a gorgeous part of the Oak Mountain area south of Birmingham and has so much character from the neighborhood, the clubhouse, signage, and it’s signature Castle that it feels like a total escape from reality for an absolute bargain.

Great design that makes you excited to play the course over again the second you finish. Quality course management and greenskeeping that stands up to the highest rated courses in your area and keeps your focus on the course design and your own game.

Several holes that any course would be honored to call their signature hole. Standouts in my opinion are the 2nd, 5th, 13th, 14th, 17th, and 18th. (Yes, that many.)

The staff is also second to none. Very accommodating, genuine, and helpful. Accepting of singles running solo (don’t use this as a GUARANTEE - this is just my experience of playing early in the week and it’s hard to find accommodating courses in the area.)

I make the 35 minute drive to play this course as often as I can and it’s worth every penny. If you’re in eastern Birmingham area/HWY 280, do yourself a favor and drive down 280 to Chelsea, and take 11 through Oak Mountain to get there. It’s a treat I look forward to anytime I make a tee time and one of the prettiest drives in the area.

Fairly new to golf and the rolling hills and extremely fast greens were a little much for me. Overall I enjoyed the course and can’t wait to come back in the spring/summer when everything is blooming and the fairways are green. Greens and tee boxes were beautiful

In general the course was in decent condition. It needdd mowing though. Tees were hairy and rough was DadEP. Lost several playable balls in the tough. Also, they needed to blow the leaves off the rough. Lost several well-hit & playable balls under leaves. Frustrating, but that’s fall golf. Good news is the greens were in great shape and I found more balls than I lost due to the above.

The course was everything filers in Alabama say it is, rolling hills, beautiful greens and wildlife everywhere. The greens were absolutely gorgeous in November. Literally green green green. Not a complaint but on this day the greens were very fast. I would play this course again and again but now I know more about it I can attack it differently. The clubhouse is currently undergoing renovations (not an issue) and the grill is still open, with delicious food.

Weather was fantastic and course in great shape, particularly the greens which were smooth, fast and true. Best public greens I’ve played on in a while. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was even better than your typical golf course fare.

My wife and i played this course. Course was in great shape. The greens rolled excellent. They hooked us up with another two guys. Very polite and fun to play with. Will definitely play this course again. We recommend this course highly.

Love this course. Always in great shape and the team there are very friendly and professional. Definitely will be back!

Course was in great shape. Got a hot deal for $53 and was worth $100.

Beverage service was available on a Weekday which was a nice surprise. Only issue was the construction on the clubhouse. It was already top notch. But they are improving on it.

First time playing here. Course was in great condition. Greens were rolling good. Staff was very friendly. I will back.

Where else can you play for $45 (Hot Deal) and get your clubs cleaned after the round! Staff is always friendly and courteous and make me feel like I'm showing up for a PGA Tour Event! Greens are almost always firm and fast just like I like em!
