Play a top course
We play as a couple all the courses in Northern Michigan and this is our favorite. It is the best bite for the buck!
Don't miss it as part of your golf experience.
An excellent day!
I've played this course before which is exactly why I keep going back. It is an amazingly beautiful course. Fair yet challenging course. Very friendly staff. Clubhouse is beautiful inside and out. If you consider yourself a golfer then you will be glad you played here.
everything
great we enjoyed it all. I want to play it again and again
A not so great experience
No bag person available to load bags. Had to search and then got reluctant help. Grueling 4 hour 45 minute round. No ranger. No beverage cart. Lots of bugs.
Hidden Gem
This is not the first time I have played Black Lake nor will it be the last. This course is ALWAYS in impeccable condition. I brought a group of 20+ guys there. They all loved the course. It suits golfers of all levels with the different tees. You must make the drive to play this course. Group golfer generally runs a promotion in October for this course for $44!! If you don't mind the trip, you have to play this course! The greens putt very true, and the tees and fairways are perfect.
Nice
The course was nice. We encountered some black nats on the course which was a little annoying. The course was in great condition. The starter was very friendly! For the most part enjoyed our day!
Very long round
Great course in good condition. The layout is pretty tight with many uphill and downhill shots. Greens were great.
Bad- the round took 5:28. We called the clubhouse as there were 4 groups on the 5th hole. Ranger said pace of play was on time. Waited 5 minutes on very hole from there on. Ruined the whole round.
Off the beaten path but worth it!!!!
Took a detour off the I-75 beaten path on a trip up to Petosky and it was worth the hour diversion.Played the course on a weds in July on a golfnow hot deal for 35.00.It was well worth that for a course that was in excellent condition.Thought there would be more holes with "elevation"...there were some...just not as many as I had hoped for such as some of the courses in Gaylord have...not a negative by any stretch. The course from tee to green was immaculate.Pace of play was just under 4 hrs on a perfect july afternoon...traps were better than most but not primo...some small rocks/pebbles..just a minor annoyance more than anything,,still give it 5 stars in spite of the sand conditions. If your are in northern Michigan and can get a hotdeal price you will not be dissapointed
Nice day at Black Lake!
This is a beautiful golf course! The layout is very challenging but not unfair. Five sets of tee boxes are very nice for us older guys who don't hit it quite as far as we used to. A few bad spots in the fairway that didn't used to be that way back when economic times were better. But still a great course! Everybody had a great time! Thanks!
Most scenic course in Northern Michigan
This is my favorite course in Northern Michigan. It has it all-sand traps, bunkers, hills, ravines and phenomenal scenery. It is well kept and very challenging.
Great challenge
If you are playing well not that difficult, however there is sand everywhere you look, so slighty off your game makes for a long day!
Excellent & Challenging Course
Immaculate conditions, terrific clubhouse and food/beverage service and a course that presents tough but fair challenge to mid-to-serious golfers. Well worth the drive to get there as it's only about an hour from Petoskey and you'll be very pleased with the value you get for a very respectable green fee w/ cart!
Very well maintained
This is one of my most favorite courses. Challenging but fair and always in great shape.
Excellent lay-out
The coursed is in great shape and offered a great golfing experience.
Will play again.
Great Condition
Rate it right up there with Elk Ridge , Black Lake is my new favorite, will play again soon.
You feel like you are the only group on the course. Very long ride to some of the holes. Definitely cannot walk this one.
The only bad experience we had on our day at the course was my husbands conversation with the new manager. He asked my husband if he had played here before. My husband answered that we have been playing here every year since it opened. He said well I have been too in a very abrasive tone. My husband was not expecting this type of really unfriendly response. The wait staff was very friendly. We had lunch before our round. And a drink after our round and the service was very good. The food is good and the club house is beautiful. You will not be disappointed with the course challenging and fair.. Just don't talk to the big union manager guy.
Great course
Excellent course with some challenging holes. I would go back in a heart beat to play again.
Jewel of the North
This course was absolutely beautiful. The grounds were in outstanding shape despite having over 4 inches of rain the previous week (two days previously we played a course a few miles away that cost more and was water logged). I was amazed that we did not see more people on the course on Memorial Day. We had a 8:40 AM tee time and were the 2nd group out on the course. The only reason it took 4 hours to complete our round was that we spent a lot of time in the woods looking for my partner's errant shots.
