beautiful course

Our first time in this area. Beautiful course layout. Played the white tees because of the single that joined us, and would recommend using the blue tees for a more typical course yardage. Green to tee is LONG so riding is a necessity for all but the dedicated hikers. greens are quite fast and most are multi-tiered so approach shot placement is important.

Coral Canyon

A very nice golf course in a beautiful setting. The course was in very good condition, a bit challenging but very playable for mid-handicappers.

Beautiful Course - Slow play

This is a gorgeous course. Nice layout with great greens.

Arrived to find the range closed for mowing at 12:30 pm. That was disappointing.

Enjoyed our playing partners but found the pace of play brutally slow. Was over 5 hours - way too long.

The pace of play was terrible

The golf course was is very good condition for the time of year. The staff was friendly, the cart girl was a little sour, but overall very good. But the pace of play was extremely slow with no help from the staff.

Ultimately Disssapointing

I had been interested in playing this course for a couple of years and finally got the chance to play it yesterday. While it's not the worst course in the world, there are many better options in the area. Why do I feel this way?

1. The pace of play was awful. Our round, which started at 2:30, took five hours. I heard others quitting after nine holes because they were sick of waiting.

2. The conditions are average. The fairways and tees were in pretty good shape but the greens and bunkers were in poor condition. The greens were full of ball marks and the bunkers rarely seemed to have been raked. I understand these issues aren't the fault of the grounds crew but it's worth noting.

3. They are charging premium prices for a decent, though not excellent, product. During high season, they want $110 for 18 holes during the week. In my book, that's a pretty penny for a round of golf.

I could go on and on about little nitpicky details, but at the risk of sounding even more cattish than I already do, I'll refrain. My sense is they have some budget and/or staffing issues going on here. Hopefully if those get cleared up, things will improve.

My playing partner and I did enjoy the layout and I found the course fun and challenging. It's not a bad course by any stretch, it's just a little rough around the edges. We came to the conclusion that it feels more like a city course, lacking attention to details, rather than an upscale resort course. And don't confuse this with golf snobbery, I love a good muni track as much as anyone, I just don't like to pay resort prices for them.

Bottom line, if you can play here for about a third of what they're charging I think you'll come away satisfied, if you pay full rack rate, you'll be left wanting.

A solid day

Played here during twilight which was $65. Don't think it would be worth the full cost. This is a good course; however, it has been a week since I played it and I can't remember most of the holes. The good of it is that nothing bad is remembered; however, it means that the layout was nothing special-just solid.

I will say that it has a putting green, great staff, good restaurant and all of the things off the course were very good.

The course lacked variety. All the par 5s had a forced carry on the second shot over a trench or creek. One or two holes like this is good, but all four became redundant. The par 3s were good and everything from a sand wedge to a long iron were used. I don't remember any par fours as standouts. There is one that is driveable, but it plays into the prevailing wind. Regardless, it is a good layout, but nothing special about it-nothing bad either.

I found the course conditions to be fine-especially for March. There weren't any dirt patches in the fairways or anything like that.

If you are in St. George, twilight is worth it. I just wouldn't have this as the first priority to play.

Great Course in Need of Infrastructure Work

Top notch resort course. Excellent views & in great condition tee to green. Very Friendly staff...especially Gene!

But, the cart path & other infrastructure really needs some work; felt like driving through a construction site on many holes.

I gave it 4-stars because I'm hopeful they will invest in the necessary upgrades.

You couldn't pay me to play this course again.

First and foremost the course was in TERRIBLE condition. The course has baked out with several dead areas of grass in the rough and across the fairways. Different types of grass have invaded the golf course with inconsistent grass types throughout some areas. I played this course last summer and several landing areas which use to be visually open have now become blind due to trees growing in waste areas. Also, the greens played extremely slow and likely had not been cut in 3-4 days. The fairways on neighboring courses rolled faster than the greens at Coral Canyon. I suspect this golf course has loss a significant amount staff members lately and is struggling to keep their heads above water. Don't waste your time and money go play at Ledges or Sand Hollow.

Solid layout with great views

One of the most underrated architects in the country is Keith Foster. He's done several courses I rank very highly, including The Bandit near New Braunfels, Texas, and I can add Coral Canyon to the list. While it doesn't quite have the views of its neighbor, Sand Hollow, the scenery is still well above average with the sandstone mountains surrounding it and large rocks framing holes. Better yet, Foster's design is thoughtful, which forces golfers to think a little off the tee. Good use doglegs and bunkers to frame holes, and excellent greens and conditioning.

Really a fun play

First time at this place.....and I've been to the Mesquite/St. George area several times and weather never seemed to work out when I had a time booked here until this past week. This was by far my favorite this trip (we also played Palms, Sand Hollow, Palmer Oasis and Wolf Creek). Course was in excellent shape however some par 3 tee boxes were under renovation making them shorter. Greens had very good speed and were smoothest of the week. Some fairway areas are pretty tight - this course will be a definite on my list next time venturing to Mesquite. 4.5 stars.

my favourite course n the st george area

this is a great course to play especially if its windy which is often is in this area.its down in a canyon so more sheltered than if you were at sandhollow or ledges.i prefer this course to some others in this area because overall the holes are interesting.where at sandhollow the back nine is wow but the front nine boring.same thing at ledges except the opposite. sky mountain has the best clubhouse view but the course itself is not interesting.

This course is not for a beginner, but tons of fun for all others!

This course was in great shape. You do have to be able to shape your shots or you will run out of fairway and end up in the desert!
Greens were in excellent shape plus faster then they look and trickier to read! Staff was very friendly and the clubhouse was very nice. Only downside is the noise from the majors roads surrounding the course.

Beautiful Course - nice fairways

waste areas added to difficulty for my skill level. Sunday play - marshals all around on the front nine. Marshals non-existant on back nine - following extremely slow foursome made the back nine too long!

A great mix of golf using natural terrain features to enhance the experience.

The course and greens were in good shape and the weather was very pleasant. There are several holes that require a good tee shot to execute the required carry, yet the course is not so difficult that most golfers with at least some ability can't have an enjoyable outing. If playing as a single, you often meet some very interesting people since many players from outside the area play the course as they are traveling through Utah.
