So Much Fun

The Sand Hollow Links Course is a nice nine-hole compliment to the championship course. If the links course had 18 holes, it would probably be the best course on the property. The layout is very simple, and the routing is unique. But its simplicity is what makes it so much fun.

Compared to the championship course, the greens on the links course have more character. They have bigger slopes and more potential pin locations. The bunkers on the links course have a less maintained more wild look.

The Links Course is not overly difficult, unless the wind is blowing. We had 20 people in our group and the first group finished before a little storm blew through and scored the best. As the wind kicked up the remaining groups struggled a bit to finish strongly.

If you're at Sand Hollow make sure you make time to play The Links Course. You'll have a blast and want to go back out again.

Fun 9-holer

Played this one after we got finished with the 18 hole championship course. Fun little 9 hole course that gives off a little Irish linksy feel... Doesn't compare to the championship course due to views but a fun little wind down none the less!!

True Links Experience in Utah’s Red Rock Country

I absolutely love this nine-hole, true links course. I was told in the pro shop that the plan is to eventually add nine more holes, which will give Sand Hollow an outstanding “traditional” red rock desert eighteen plus this true links eighteen. The ragged-edge bunkering, large greens, and multiple playing lines off each tee are so much fun to play. I could play this course every day without getting bored.
My only complaint is that while the well-known and highly rated eighteen at Sand Hollow is a great golf course, I wish the developer would have / could have finished all eighteen links holes when Sand Hollow opened approximately fifteen years ago.
Great course when you have time for only nine, when you need a warm up nine when traveling to St. George from Utah’s “Greatest Snow on Earth” climate that begins just 40 miles north of the St. George area, or when you need an additional nine to settle your group’s action from the round you played on Sand Hollow’s more well-known eighteen.

Go ahead... have a little fun.

Due to a frost delay on the championship course, our group wasn't able to make our second tee time of the day. Instead, the staff at sand hollow was able to squeeze us on this 9 hole Links course... a good compromise for our scheduling issues.

The surrounding views are every bit as stunning as on the big course, but don't expect the same excitement from the golf. This is a pretty straight forward little course... as the Links name might imply. You'll find very generous fairways and far fewer elevation changes than the Championship course.

What's not lacking is fun! It's quick, you can be aggressive on almost every shot, and (especially if you're coming off playing 18 on the other course) you can relax and enjoy taking in the views.

I wouldn't play this course on its own necessarily, but I'd highly recommend making time to play all 27 while you're out at Sand Hollow. It's a nice facility.

Desert Links

First of all this is a 9 hole course. It is not the championship test that the 18 hole course is; however, it is a lot of fun and a great way to warm up. Greens fees are only $35 to ride and $25 to walk. Being a part of the resort, you have access to all the amenities-driving range, restaurant, glorious views from the patio, putting green, etc.
This does play like a links. It is very walkable and not a far distance from green to tee; especially if you play from the tips. The course also has wavy fairways and it plays firm and fast. I found that you wanted to use contours in the greens to move the ball to the hole and off the green you can putt or chip.
The course played in all directions, so the wind is a factor. Another element of links were the stone walls surrounding most of the course. Not the most challenging of courses, but a lot of fun to play. I used it to warm up after a long drive into the St. George area. For the price, it is well worth it.
