Refuge
Excellent course, interesting layout nice conditions. Only criticism is tees which were bare in spots and markers need to be rotated more frequently

I golf this course four or five times a year. The course is always in great condition. I love the layout of this course.

Another round at the Refuge
I managed to get to the Refuge for a second time this season and I pleased. This course will always have a place in my heart as the course that really sparked my interest in golf. It was the local course for me when I was growing up and I always heard it was really tough. I love this course, tips are around 6500 so a respectable distance, I would like it to be a little longer but you can't argue with the length. This outing was better than the first, conditions had improved and everything grew in a little more. Greens were a little beat up this time though from people not fixing their marks. This is a fun course with cool views and it provides a challenge, you won't walk all over this track that is for sure. Strategy is key here. As long as they keep the course up, I will continue my trend of 3-4 rounds a year here.
Best course in Minnesota!
I always enjoy The Refuge. It is literally my favorite course in Minnesota. If it wasn’t that their membership prices only cater to the rich I would be a member there in a heartbeat. The holes are so memorable. There is something for everyone. Thank Goodness for Groupon and GolfNow.com or I could never afford to play there. Pace of play is always slow but that’s ok because the views are wonderful.
A great course for the average golfer
The Refuge is awesome! We are average golfers, each of whom had a wonderful time. Staff was fun and phenomenal in courtesy. The course was in great, not just good, great condition. All-in-all, a fun yet challenging experience.
Great course for a good deal
I thought the course was really really good value for ~$30. The $60 that the course asks you to pay is insane, thank the lord for GolfNow!
Very nice
The course has a great layout/design. Very quiet remote location, and some very nice views. Conditions were pretty good, but getting a bit dry due to lack of rain. Some crab grass in areas that should be ripped out. Great deal via Golfnow.
Great course
This course is fantastic. The Minnesota landscape is not compromised at all and I found myself taking photos on almost every hole. Other than divots not being repaired/replaces this course was in fabulous condition.
Refuge is an excellent value and a great course
Tee times are always easy to get for a great value and excellent course. It is a hidden gem in the north metro!
Great lay out
Great course fun and very challenging with great views. 5 tee boxes play your skill level there are some tough carries.
Slow Play/Bad Greens
There was a 5some and a super drunk groupie in front of us. We waited at least 5 min on every tee box and even longer on the green. Talked to the starter at the turn and he said they’re regulars so he wasn’t going to do anything about it. Our round took 5 hours & 45 min which I think is intolerable.
Additionally it looked like no golfer ever repairs a ball mark on the green...they looked like there was a major outbreak of chicken pox on them.
There were also swarms of biting deer and horseflies that made the round less than enjoyable.
Good course, Great greens
I’ve played the course a handful of times. Always in good condition and the greens are fabulous. Fun layout and even with the shorter yardage it boasts a challenge for all skill levels.
Great experience
This is the second time I have played this course. Both times I was a single and looking to play a quick 18. The staff was very accommodating and found a spot in the line-up that could get me around the fastest. Most courses don’t even try to accommodate a single, but these guys are very customer focused.
Plus the course itself is a great layout and in fantastic shape.
Bring some extra golf balls the carries on a few holes can be tough, but fair if you hit your driver cleanly.
