Battle Ground Golf Club

I have played many rounds at Battle Ground over the past 17 years. Pleased to report it is in very good shape and that the current staff (both in the clubhouse and those taking care of the course) are doing an excellent job.

It has been a good year for growing grass, for sure, but many were concerned about what would happen to BG's conditioning when it became Lafayette's muni this year. Not sure how many more rounds they've had than normal, or what the budget is for keeping the course nice, but they are getting the job done in 2013.

Battle Ground is not a visual stunner, being mostly flat and fairly straightforward. It is a very good test of golf, though. The small greens will test the short game, and the par 3s have always been pretty salty from either of the back two sets of tees. Add in a generally quick pace of play, and you get a good value for the dollar.

This was my first time playing this course. I always heard good things and was not disappointed. We played on a Sun morning and rode. WHEN i play next time I will gladly walk the course. It would be an easy walk and the course is beautiful. I will look forward to my round there next time.

Course was very crowded the day I played. They had a "ranger" who was really just a starter since I never saw him after the 1st tee. Perhaps if he was a Ranger he could have sped up the pace of play for some large groups in front, including 2-3 groups that were apparently playing a scramble and 1 group that had a walker early afternoon on a weekend!

The staff acts as though we do something wrong by using Golfnow. They are usually professional until we sign in and they realize we used this service and then their demeanor changes. We only played 8 holes due to weather. When asked about a rain check they were rude at the thought of giving one. They are my local course but everything changes when they know we used Golfnow!

The course is good shape and well maintained! :) :)

My son and I played the Battleground course as our first outing this year and enjoyed it a lot. The course layout is interesting with lots of trees and bunkers that come into play. Greens are well maintained with medium speed. Some of the greens have roll off slopes. The trees are mature, but are well spaced to provide the opportunity to hit out of. The course has a driving range and practice putting green. A couple of holes have water that comes into play.
We would come and play again.

Unbelievable deal!!! I hope it lasts. The course is very nice too. They did give me a little trouble bc they said they could find any conformation from golfnow. I had it printed out so she took that but wasn't sure she believe me. I booked it about an hour before playing so maybe it hadn't gone through yet

Since the city of Lafayette has taken over this course it has looked great. With the addition of the new carts help add an extra touch to the course. Fairways and greens are well maintained. Can't beat it for the price.
