Lakota Links Golf Club
About
Situated just below the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in the lower foothills of the Rockies, Lakota Links Golf Club has a scenic, secluded location that is surprisingly accessible to and from all of the ski areas of Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, and Aspen. The location is also equipped with spectacular views from all around the course. Jim Engh designed the golf course, incorporating all of his trademarks including bowled fairways, cavernous bunkers, and receptive but tricky greens. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. Lakota Links Golf Club's final hole is one of the most demanding. This par-5 has a seemingly split fairway, a ravine, and a large area of rough.

Mountain golf
Golf. Course in very good condition. Visually and ability challenging because of the constant elevation changes. Need to hit it straight, or your ball is lost. You check in at the ranch HQ and then drive your car to the course. One attendant there who was completely overwhelmed - and the facilities at that location are nil. Have fun, look at the views, and just enjoy the day. Take lots of balls.
beautiful mountain golf
This is a real treat for me get to play every summer on my travels. The changes in elevation are severe on many holes so play the back tees if you want to experience all this course has to offer. Nice greens.
Challenging but a fun course to play.
Beautiful course. Hilly terrain. Bring extra balls because you will lose a few (you will also find a few)
awesome views, challenging course
one of the most beautiful golf courses I've ever played. very challenging but bowled in fairways and greens help keep ball in play. shot one of my best rounds and finished in less than 3 hours playing alone. cost only $39 plus booking fee through golf now. definitely put on your bucket list.
Stunning course, with tremendous elevated tee boxes.
An unexpected joy to play. Very challenging in an extremely beautiful setting. The 18th hole is worth the price of admission.
Jim Engh ....... Nuff said
It's a Jim Engh course so don't expect a flat lie in the fairway, or less than a dramatic rolling green. The course was in pristine condition and as always the staff was friendly and helpful and a pleasure to talk with. Jim Engh knows how to work with the natural surroundings and design beautiful courses. I always enjoy playing this course, even if I can only make it up from Denver once a year! Play it for the fun of the game, awesome course conditions, and beauty of the high mountain desert! Oh yeah, can't forget about the incredible bunkers.
Course would be great if not Cart Path Only
Unfortunately, we scheduled our round at Lakota Canyon during a period of wet weather. Upon check-in, we were told it was playing cart path only. The fairways and greens are all well below the level of the cart path making this an exhausting endeavor.
Even if we had been allowed to drive down to the fairways the access into the greens is typically off of a steep hillside. Plan on a lot of hiking no matter what.
Lots of uneven lies, but that's to be expected on a mountain/canyon course.
We want to come back and play it in nice weather.
very player friendly.
Elevated tee boxes make you feel like you can hit it a mile. Banked fairways that guide the ball to the middle. Greens that feed the ball towards the hole. What more do u want? How bout a club house instead of a double wide!
Very fun course, one of my favorite
Lots of elevated tee shots, very challenging "Fun Fun Fun". Ladies could have a tough time making it over crud on the tee shots.
Challenging holes.
This is on the top of my favorite list! I played last year a few times and was able to better my score by 10 this year!
Fun Course
At times like playing a video game. Great layout with a lot of forgiveness and challenging shots.
Great views from tee boxes.
Course very well maintained. Narrow fairways take the driver out of play on many holes. Mounding along fairways and greens give a bailout on at least one side on every hole. Very enjoyable course to play, and very well maintained. Greens were very quick.
very beautiful golf course
challenging golf course with large rolling fairways and large greens
Great Mountain Course
This is a great and fun mountain course to play. It has lot's of elevation changes and challenging holes. The scenery is spectacular.
Best course I have played in Colorado!
Amazing views, incredible elevation changes. Do yourself a favor and make a day of it with your buddies. This course can't be beat! Took my nephew from San Diego and we were both blown away with Lakota Canyon.
Beautiful course with challenging shots
Course has challenging golf shots with lots of elevation changes. requires accurate shots but does have ample landing areas. Scenery of mountains and course are beautiful. Many holes are in canyon like settings.
Fun course with elevated tees and pretty views.
This is a fun course for experienced players. Almost every hole has an elevated tee and a large bowl-shaped green. There are lots of deep bunkers and water hazards. If you're hitting good drives and avoiding the hazards, you'll really enjoy your round.
Great secluded course
If you like being in a quite setting that is not bordered on every hole with housing you may like this lush track. I only played from the whites (over 60 now) so it was fairly short so it is not a full test of this course.
There are many very elevated Tees that always add a fun factor. The fairways and greens were very well maintained. This is really a target style course. You have to know the proper ball positioning to score well. The front nine pretty much funnels drives into the center, whereas the back is more open but more difficult.
Warning: if you miss a fairway, even by a foot or two, forget finding your ball. That was really my only complaint.
It was torrentially raining when I played, but I kept playing as there was no lightning.
I liked the greens as there were many holes that you could use the hill as a backstop. Of course, that changes based on pin placement. For a good player, that knows the course, this would certainly make the undulating greens challenging, yet very playable.
Great layout in great shape
Got a perfect tee time at a nice Golf Now discount. Staff was very helpful/friendly. Course was not busy. This is a really well-designed course. The front is challenging with narrow fairways and some blind shots. Canyons and vertical relief are stunning on this nine. Back nine was similar with less mountain effect. Suggest you play blue or gold tees unless you're a real notice (try white) or expert (you deserve black tees). Fairways is wonderful condition. Greens rolled true but rather fast
Above average
Course has an excellent layout & has incredible scenery. General course conditions is adequate however the 2 days we played the course was extremely wet & over watered. Despite no rain balls that landed in the fairway got no roll & were constantly muddy. There were multiple cart ruts in the fairways. Overall condition would of been excellent except for the over watering of the fairways. For the difficulty of the course pace of play was excellent. Overall the experience was above average.
