Lakota Links Golf Club

Lakota Links is my favorite golf course that I’ve played. Every hole is picturesque and has a completely different stunning view. The course layout is unreal. The front goes up into the mountains with an alpine landscape while the back nine has more of a links landscape with tall grass down in the valley below. There are very few table top greens at all. I thought a cool feature were the bowl-like green complexes. I ended up playing this course twice during my stay in CO because it was so enjoyable the first time.

This was the first time playing at Lakota Links and the course was unbeatable in terms of views! Outstanding course layout and was a great challenge. The tee placement made for a great experience as well!

Would highly recommend and look forward to going again.

This course will challenge every aspect of your game from tee to green. Many tees are seriously elevated. Most greens are a stairmaster workout from surface back to cart. A few forced carries, rolling greens, bunkers and waters hazards complete the test of skill. At 7,000', flat land visitors should bring a can of oxygen.

Course conditions were good overall but the bunkers were pretty shaggy and placing a post to aim at off the tee would be helpful to those not familiar with the course.

Because of the high lost-ball potential, pace of play can be a little slow. Worse was that two different singles were sent out behind our foursome, so we had to wait in order to let them play through.

Still, it is a must if you can play it. The staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. The restaurant was closed but the clubhouse is very nice.

Outstanding course, beautiful conditions, whoever set the pin placements is the goat .

Loved the course … the design, the condition and the challenge. I’ve been playing golf since 1987, and after Oakmont, Bethpage Black and Koo’lau in Hawaii, it is the most difficult I’ve ever played. It’s a good bucket list course if you find yourself on I-70 and you want to stop and play before staying in Glenwood Springs or moving onto Denver.

We play this course once or twice a year. Long but fun course. Gloves and hats in the pro shop are almost twice the typical prices. Fees have risen a good amount since last year

What a course!! I have wanted to play this course for a long time and finally did. This place was worth the wait!! It was the funnest course I’ve played in Colorado, and I’ve played some good ones. I love courses where you can’t play driver off of every tee box and have to play the course. The layout was amazing!

The views were spectacular! The staff was awesome! The GPS on the carts was very accurate and it even flagged you at the 8th hole if you wanted to order food for the turn.

Bring cash with you to tip the guys at the front. They load your bag and clean your clubs after the round. I rarely carry cash and wish I would have known this. There’s no ATM at the course.

If I had to list a negative, it would be the bunkers. Try to avoid them at all costs. They are hard and they seemed to be more dirt than sand thankfully I was only in 1 but they are noticeable.

Other than that, it is a fantastic course and one everyone in Colorado should play. It is worth the drive and you will no be disappointed.

I had to leave after 9 holes-way too slow. It was 4 groups at #7and #8 at one time. Then 2 groups ( besides me) on #10

Greens are too dry and on slower side. Bunkers has no sand but a lots of dirt. I was a big fan of the course but done coming for now.

Really dramatic holes and layout. Definitely a course to play. Beautiful layout - virtually every hole is interesting and challenging. Would be 5 star rating for sure if the service at popshop would have been a little better and the course a little greener.

Lakota Links is a golf course designed by Jim Engh. If you know his courses, he brings a lot of challenges to golfers. Lakota is in great shape from tee to greens, with lush grass everywhere. The greens are moderately fast with lots of undulations to test green reading skills. This adds to the importance of approach shots for proper positioning. Lots of elevated tee boxes to watch your drives soar to the fairways. Staff is always friendly and pricing is fair.

Always fun to play there. Pace of play for a single player is great- others always considered to let you play ahead. Go play!

The course allowed us to book an 18 hole tee time during men’s league when only the front 9 were open. We were aggressively passed and had our balls tossed off course and then were not compensated appropriately for the mistake of management. We only played 6/18 holes and were given a rain check for only 9 holes instead of being invited back to play to play a proper 18.

Overall bad experience for a first time at the course.
