Grand Elk Golf Course

About
Nestled within the Colorado Rockies, Grand Elk Golf Club in Granby, Colo. offers stunning mountain views from every hole. The course has a links-layout inspired by the inland golf courses of the British Isles. The low-lying vegetation and gently rolling terrain lend a heathland feel to the course. The fairways are wide and undulating and the large greens have ample contours as well. The layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that are straightforward and others that twist into tricky doglegs, but nearly all are flanked with sod-faced bunkers. There are more than 60 bunkers coming into play throughout Grand Elk Golf Club, and water hazards come into play on four holes. Besides just being a fun and challenging round, the magnificent views that stretch across the snow-capped peaks of the Continental Divide are not to be missed.

A challenging design with beautiful views
The greens were in excellent shape,, but some of the fairways were very dry, and the sand traps were hard, like hitting off of dry dirt. Love the links-style design. Also, the GPS in the carts is always a treat!
must play
Grand Elk was as good a course as I''ve played
in Colorado. The desig.n and layout were great.
It is the kind of course that makes you think before you hit. Lots of open landing areas if your smart.
Will play again.
Very challenging back nine
Had a wonderful time, played 18 in less than 4 hours. Back nine was very challenging, especially for those who have not played the course often. The course was in great shape, the greens were very challenging with a great deal of slope and undulation.
Great views
Loved it!!!!! Worth the trip up from Denver!!!! Have fun!!!
Course in great shape.
Long hitters can have a low score, not so long hitters must keep it in play to have a good score. Prevailing winds have a great impact on shots. Play smart and have fun.
GRAND ELK Granby
Good little meandering course in the Grand Valley.
Too spread out to walk.
Carts have great GPS, cooler & grass mix.
Fairly easy from the white tees.
Good views thruout the course.
Great view looking back from the 17th green.

GREAT Brats in the clubhouse. Call ahead, they'll have it ready - takes too long if you don't.
Pole Creek, Granby Ranch & Grand Lake just down the road.
Stay in the fairway
Great course and conditions. Rewards the safe plays. Don't stray from the short stuff or you'll be sorry.
Worth the drive!
Bit of a drive to get there from Denver. Especially be aware of the delays from May to October as they are paving the road between I-70 and the course.
Now to the course:
Driving range is a nice plus. Could use a little water as it has browned out.
Greens - Perfect!
Fairways - Perfect!
This course could be walkable, but several of the tee boxes are quite a distance.
Guys in the pro shop couldn't be nicer. made me feel like a member instead of just someone off the street...
Links style mountain golf course.
Need better signage to next hole. Layout does not make sense. Some very beautiful holes! Worth playing once. If you love links golf - this is for you.!
Great course Poor conditions
The course played fairly long and the GPS unit yardages were off by more than ten yards some times too long and sometimes too short. The wind was blowing as usual in the afternoon and the course had some marshy and some dry/dead areas. Made for difficulty if you could not stay clear. The rough and waste areas edge the fairway so there is no second cut. if you don't hit the fairway you may as well drop.
Tough but fun
This is a great little course, just stay on the fairways! If you go off, you're not going to find the ball in the scrub. Plenty of strategy shots as the green is hidden on many holes. Greens are relatively easy, getting to them is a different story. Some water, and great views of the surrounding mountains and wildlife. It pays to be accurate more than long. Will continue to play this course, well worth it.
this on is a great play
Great course for the money!
read the tips on each hole and you'll be fine>
Greens are a little tricky...but fair.
Make sure you play it when you are in the area.
Staff super
Played using GolfNow and picked up two staff members for nine holes and played solo for nine.
Liked front nine but scored best on back.
Pretty skies and tight lies.
Course kept in great shape. No trees but plenty of willows and sagebrush to swallow your shot. Must be precise off the tee and some approach shots. Play it smart or pay the price.
Fun to play, but bring a few extra balls
After a very brief rain shower on the first hole, the clouds moved on and we had perfect weather for our round. In addition to a real pretty course set in a mountain valley (altitude almost 8,000 ft.), we had plenty of critters to watch while we golfed. Chipmunks, ground squirrels, and assorted other little animals have made this course their home, and they were out enjoying the weather along with us. I popped one shot out of a bunker and a little squirrel popped out of his hole right in front of me to see what all the ruckus was about. Course boasts wide fairways, for the most part, but if you miss, you'll need a new ball. Thick rough, some water hazards, and undulating greens made for an interesting day. The GPS screens on the carts offer plenty of info if you're unfamiliar with the course, but you still have to make shots. Pretty course, somewhat challenging for a first look, and I'd love to play it again the next time I'm in this part of Colorado. We teed off at 1:50 on a Thursday as a twosome, and we pretty much had the course to ourselves. Very enjoyable afternoon, plus we got a great deal from GolfNow.
Expect to lose balls.
A GPS is necessary to navigate around the many hazards on this course. Fortunately one was in the cart, but it did not show all the bunkers and marshy willow hazards.
The grass on the side of the fairways was knee deep - forget about finding a ball hit off the fairway.
The restaurant wasn't open, no beverage cart. Poor amenities.
Worth the drive from Denver
found a hot deal for this course for only $15 - couldn't pass it up! played twice this week and playing again today. Course is challenging but very well maintained. It is well laid out and we were well ahead of pace both times i played. I didn't have my range finder on me so nice that they have GPS in the cart.
Only downfall is the wind. Where it is situated, it could be extremely windy at times.
Otherwise two thumbs up
Beautiful scenery on every hole
Challenging course especially when it's windy. Greens are difficult as is the rough. A lot of fun to play. The elevation could get to you.
Tough greens, but they are in perfect condition
Great course, friendly staff. Will definitely be back.
great views and great shape good
would recomend for groups or individuals, we would go back to play again
